Position Summary The Assistant Director of the Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs (CBCSA) is a full-time, professional staff member, reporting to the Director of the Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs (CBCSA). Under the guidance of the Director of CBCSA, this individual facilitates the development, implementation, and assessment of initiatives to support African American students in their academic and personal growth at USC, as well as to educate all students about issues regarding diversity, cultural competence, and a campus climate of justice. In addition the Assistant Director is responsible for facilitating CBCSA and the Division of Student Affairs initiatives to promote access and equity and to support/educate the campus community regarding how to meet the needs of traditionally underserved students. Key Duties and Responsibilities Design and implement programming and resources to support students enrollment, retention, and success. Assist the director with the design, coordination, and implementation of annual goals and objectives for CBCSA. Serve as an advocate for current students regarding student policies and processes that affect their enrollment and success. Recruit, train, and supervise work-study students, graduate assistants, and volunteers for CBCSA. Assist the director with the design and implementation of a comprehensive assessment plan for the department, including the development of learning and service outcomes to measure effectiveness. Under the guidance of the director, strategically allocate budget resources to achieve annual goals; manage day-to-day budget functions, including account tracking and processing of P.O.s, invoices, and reimbursements. Research and analyze student needs on a regular basis, recommending initiatives to support student needs. Develop a formal network of external resources to support students, within the Division of Student Affairs, academic units, and the campus community. Serve as an information resource to students, faculty/staff, and the USC community stakeholders regarding the specific needs of African American students. Represent CBCSA at speaking engagements, information sessions, and other special programs, as required by the Director. Provide leadership and support in the annual development, planning, coordination, scheduling, and implementation of CBCSAs programming and resources, as needed. Assist in the development, coordination, and implementation of annual goals and objectives for CBCSA, as needed. Prepare assessment reports, proposals, surveys (progress/annual reports, statistical summaries, as requested by leadership. Fulfill other duties as required and defined by the Director.

This position will include periodic extended work hours and weekend assignments, and may include some travel. Minimum Qualifications Masters degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Social Work/Counseling, or a related field. Minimum of two years experience in the field of student development or relevant experience managing student programs in a higher education setting. (Relevant experience may substitute for qualifications.) Demonstrated knowledge of theory and national research, issues, and current events regarding college students, particularly underserved populations. The ability to translate knowledge and theory into programming and resources designed to support students retention and success. Strong advising, program development and management skills. Demonstrated ability to plan and achieve short- and long-term goals driven by the mission and objectives of the unit. Proven presentation and communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency with basic computer programs and systems (such as Microsoft Office applications, as well as internet, calendaring, and email management systems). Position Category/Grade: Student Programs Advisor III; Grade J Expected Salary: $45,000 per year
