Dear Parishioners
This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 15, 2013, and will focus on the theme "Open the Door of Faith." Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. Parents are truly the primary catechists of their children. They prepare the soil and plant the first seeds of faith. On this day I commend parents and guardians and encourage them to take seriously their role of making their Catholic households a place where faith is passed on to the next generation. From the words of Paul, we learn what it means to evangelize and to make disciples for Jesus. "When they arrived, they called the church together and reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles" (Acts 14:27). In his preaching, Paul clearly understood two essential elements every evangelizer needs to know about the work of evangelization. First, God alone opens the door of faith, for faith is a gift that only God gives to those disposed to receive it freely. Second, Paul was a credible witness because he shared with others what God had done with him. As pastors, catechetical leaders, catechists, and parishioners, we share the same privilege as Paul. We, too, prepare people to open their hearts to God. We must remind ourselves that our primary task is to cultivate the soil of the heart that others might receive God's gift of faith to believe in Jesus and faithfully to follow him. On this day in a very special way I would like to thank all those in our parish engaged in catechetical ministry, those teaching CCD classes, those who give instructions for RCIA programs, those who prepare parents and God parents for baptism of their children, those involved in preparing candidates for wedding, quincineras etc. May God bless you and your families for your self- sacrificing ministry of proclaiming the good news and handing on the faith.

Domingo Catequestico Este ao, la iglesia celebrar el domingo catequtico el 15 de septiembre de 2013, y el tema de enfoque sera "abrir la puerta de la fe." El Domingo Catequtico es una maravillosa oportunidad para reflexionar sobre el papel que desempea cada persona, en virtud del bautismo, en la transmisin de la fe y ser un testimonio del Evangelio. Domingo Catequtico es una oportunidad para que todos puedan dedicarse a esta misin como una comunidad de fe. Los padres son verdaderamente las primeras catequistas de sus hijos. Que preparan la tierra y plantan las primeras semillas de la fe. En este da quiero alentar a los padres y tutores a tomar en serio su papel de hacer de sus hogares un lugar donde la fe se pasa a la prxima generacin. De las palabras de Pablo, nos enteramos de lo que significa evangelizar y hacer discpulos de Jess. "Cuando llegaron, se convoc a la iglesia y divulg lo que Dios haban hecho con ellos y cmo haba abierto la puerta de la fe a los Gentiles" En su predicacin, Pablo entendi claramente dos elementos esenciales que cada evangelizador debe saber sobre el trabajo de evangelizacin. En primer lugar, solo Dios abre la puerta de la fe, pero la fe es un regalo que Dios da a aquellos que estan dispuestos a recibirla libremente. En segundo lugar, Pablo era un testigo creble porque comparti con otros lo que Dios haba hecho con l.

Como pastores, lderes catequticos, catequistas y feligreses, compartimos el mismo privilegio como Pablo. Tambin preparamos personas para abrir sus corazones a Dios. Nosotros mismos debemos recordarnos que nuestra tarea primordial es cultivar el suelo con el corazn para que otros puedan recibir el regalo de Dios que es la fe para creer en Jess y seguirlo fielmente.
En este da de una manera muy especial, me gustara dar las gracias a todos aquellos en nuestra parroquia encargados del Ministerio Catequtico, esas clases de enseanza del CCD, quienes dan instrucciones para programas de RCIA, quienes preparan los padres y padrinos para el bautismo de sus hijos, quienes participan en la preparacin de los candidatos para las bodas, quincineras etc.. Que Dios bendiga a ustedes y sus familias por su sacrificio en el Ministerio de proclamar la buena nueva y transmisin de la fe.
