If -Conditional

There are three types of if- conditional: 1. True in the present or future. 2. Untrue (contrary to fact) in the present or future. 3. Untrue (contrary to fact ) in the past.

If -Conditional
True in the present or future. Pattern: if clause (present form)+ main clause (present form also) Conditional sentences that express true, factual ideas in the present/future, the simple present (not simple future) is used in the if- clause. Examples: a)If I dont eat breakfast, I always get hungry during class. b)If I dont eat breakfast tomorrow morning, I will get hungry during class. c)If it rains, I cant go home.

If -Conditional
Untrue (contrary to fact) in the present or future Pattern: if clause (past form)+ main clause (past form) It tells us something contrary to fact in the present or future. Examples : 1.If I taught this class, I wouldnt give tests. 2.If I were you, I would accept their invitation. 3.If I had enough money, I would buy a car. 4.If I had enough money, I could buy a car.

If -Conditional
Untrue (contrary to fact ) in the past. Pattern: if clause (past perfect) + main clause (past future perfect) Telling about something not true in the past. Examples: a. If I had had much money, I would have bought a car. b. If you had told me about the problem, I would have helped you. c. If they had studied, they would have passed the exam.

1. Masako would stay in bed yesterday if she didnt feel well. 2. If my friends were busy yesterday, I would go to Miami last week. 3. If we continued to pollute the land, future generations would suffer.
