Akron-Canton Transplant Recipients
Welcome to the Brickers Rodney (8/2010 liver recipient) and Jean Bricker joined our chapter at the August meeting. Please welcome them to our group.

The Honors Project Trust As a result of a Cuyahoga County Court antitrust settlement, a trust fund has been established for Ohio 501c3 charitable organizations to obtain a grant for projects that Benefit Ohio. Akron Canton TRIO has registered with the Honors Project. Please consider project(s) that AC TRIO may consider applying for a grant and get back with Walt Hinkel. Note that there are 40,000 Ohio 501c3s Member update Rosie Price is home from the hospital following tests. Robin Pelton is home from the nursing home and is recovering beautifully. Please keep them in your thoughts.
TRIO Celebration of Life Picnic August 11, 2013 Our annual picnic was held at the John Torok Community & Senior Center, 4224 Massillon Road, Green, Ohio 44232. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time meeting members families and grandkids. As usual, hot dogs were provided by Vicki from Sugardale Freshmark. They have provided the hot dogs since 1992. Thank you to Schwebel baking for providing the hot dog buns. Kidney Foundation Harvest Walk
Jessica Hissem from University Hospital's Transplant Institute has invited Akron Canton TRIO members to participate in the Kidney Foundation of Ohio's Harvest Walk on October 5, 2013 at Mapleside Farms, 294 Pearl Road, Brunswick, Ohio
Our Next Meeting will be September 17, 2013. I hope you can join us.
Education We provide current information (with respect to developments in organ and tissue donation, transplantation, medications, social issues, and finances) to transplant candidates, recipients and their families, donors and donor families about initiatives and protocols in the field of transplantation.

TRIOs MISSION TRIO is a non-profit organization improving the quality of lives touched by the miracle of transplan tation through support, advocacy, education and awareness.
Awareness We promote organ and tissue donation as an important social responsibility. We develop and support mechanisms to improve the availability of organs and tissues on an equitable basis to meet the need of transplant candidates.

Support We provide support to transplant candidates, recipients and their families, donors and donor families to help alleviate the stresses and problems associated with the process.
Advocacy
We make the concerns and needs that affect the welfare of transplant candidates, recipients, and donor families known to federal government bodies. We also effectively communicate the views of transplant candidates, recipients and their families, donors and donor families to the general public.
