Just to make our families aware that building on the land adjacent to school will be beginning very soon. We anticipate that this will make the traffic situation outside school even more difficult as lorries and workmen will need to gain access to the site. There are still parents parking cars too close to school, dropping children off at the school gates and blocking in the lollipop man, Les. We really must insist that such bad driving, which endangers our children and causes disruption to local residents, must stop. We have requested that the community police will, where possible, have illegally parked cars removed. Jayne Kennedy
Y5 Reading Rocks Last Friday, Year 5 visited the Library at Chorlton High School for the first of their Reading Rocks Project sessions. They had a great session and are looking forward to meeting author Jeremy Strong later in the year. Y5/6 Anglo Saxon Workshop Year 5/6 children had a great time taking part in an Anglo Saxon workshop in school as part of their topic work on the Anglo-Saxons, the children have also been busy creating their own Anglo Saxon villages which are currently displayed outside their classes. Y1/2 Indian Restaurant On Wednesday 1/2 visited a local Indian Restaurant as part of their India Project. The children were extremely well behaved and got to sample some delicious traditional Indian food. Reception Class trip to China Town

As part of their topic on China, Reception class travelled into Manchesters China Town on Friday for Chinese New Year and to sample authentic Chinese dishes. As always the children were brilliantly behaved and thoroughly enjoyed their trip. Forest Crew Key Stage 2 KS2 children have been enjoying their Forest Crew sessions which form part of their Tuesday afternoon activity sessions. Please can we remind you that your child will need to bring appropriate outdoor clothing into school with them each Tuesday when it is their turn to take part in Forest Crew. Healthy Snacks As you may be aware Barlow Hall proudly received its Healthy Schools Gold Award, which can be seen displayed in the reception area and so we encourage our children to eat healthily at all times. If you wish to send your child into school with a break-time snack could we please remind you that the snack should be a health for example fruit, cheese, breadsticks as opposed to crisps or chocolate.
