Swarm attracts an audiences of mid-career to advanced Community Managers. This is not a Social Media 101 event, so please ensure your material is authentic, authoritative and suitable for seasoned: Marketers, Corporate Communications & PR professionals. Community strategists & director. Social media managers. Community managers.

Speaker theme & topics for 2014


Swarm invites you to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to be a part of this highly anticipated annual event on the global community management calendar. Swarm 2014 is seeking presentations that offer new insight & innovation. We want contributors with high levels of demonstrable expertise in their specic elds, who can build on our practice in a meaningful way and stretch our professional boundaries. This can include new ways of looking at existing data or insight, new methodologies and ways of doing, new evidence or theory to apply in our working lives. Topics may include, but are not limited to: New tools & platforms (case studies essential, non-promotional) New research in the online community space (or impacting our work) New insights from social science New developments in community management practice globally or locally i.e. Beyond Facebook the return of owned communities Managing big data day to day in a community context (big intimacy) New business models for online communities Content in online communities how to nurture a shared narrative Emerging frameworks for managing risk in online communities

The topics outlined are for guidance only. Interested presenters are encouraged to propose other topics. Conference organisers may request further details of the proposed presentation once the presenter is shortlisted.

Presentation requirements
Presenters should plan for a 30-minute session and must also allow time for questions within the specied session duration. Electronic presentations and any other relevant materials must be supplied to the organisers a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. At this stage the presenter will be provided feedback regarding their presentation including any issues or duplication of content. An inability to provide this may result in a presenter being withdrawn from the event.

Presenter exemptions
Presenters included in the conference program will be exempt from registration fees for the two-day conference. We are able to offer either airfares OR accommodation for interstate and international presenters. Please provide a detailed costing of your specic requirements in your EOI.

Selection guidelines
Swarm is focused on sharing knowledge and skills, so all attendees can leave the conference with tangible, practical ideas and tools to assist them in their own projects and plans. Presenters are encouraged to include specic, practical, action points that spectators can apply in their respective roles, and to create take home materials that all attendees can receive. Were interested in big ideas, but more importantly, their outcomes and implications. Were even more interested in people that can present information in a non-standard way. Presenters should also refrain from directly promoting a particular product or business service. If you would like to highlight a specic product or service please contact us for sponsorship details. If we are unable to include your presentation in the 2014 conference, there may be potential to re-purpose the content for our other events (e.g., webinar or workshop).

Submission requirements
Session criteria. Sessions should include case studies or success stories within the sector (co-presentation is encouraged). Sessions must include take-away practical tools or strategies (i.e., the how-to guide, top 10 tips, etc). Sessions must be relevant and applicable to communities and teams of different sizes (many of our audience are from small to medium organisations as well as larger brands).

Proposal format
Title: (benet lead). Key points to be covered. Key point 1. Key point 2. Key point 3. Relevant data/theory/insight. What format will you present this in? Who are you to give such a talk? Any other information?

Make your talk Simple, Useful, Concrete, Credible, Emotional and told via Story.

Expectations
We expect speakers to come along and enjoy the entire day, listen to other speakers and engage with the audience on and off the stage. We aim to create the best possible environment for this to happen.

Presentation format
Please supply your presentation in Powerpoint or Keynote (Note: Keynote does not embed fonts into nal les, if you wish to use this format please start a dialogue with Zac no shorter than 2 weeks before Swarm). If you want to bring your own laptop for use, please ensure you have the correct cables and notify us.
