(Wiggins&McTighe,2007,SchoolingbyDesign), NextTuesdayandWednesday,youasparentswillbeabletogetsome melyfeedbackonthelearningprogressofyourchild.Thisisan opportunitytocelebratetheirsuccessesthusfarandalsoreectonwhat aresomegoalsmovingforward.Thesegoalswillconnecttoa combina onofcontentareas,e.g.Math,Wri ngorReading; transdisciplinaryskills,suchasresearching,problemsolvingor communica ng,;anda tudesordisposi on,suchasbeingselfdirected, responsibleorshowingcaretowardsothers.Ourpurposeisforclass teacherstoshareinforma onwithyou rela ngtoyourchild'slearningatthispointin me,andtogivesome direc onastothenextimportantstepstotake. DearParents, Asyoumayknow,foranumberofyearswehavehadrequiredmedicalcheckupsforstudentsatdierentstagesin theirschoollives:G1;G5;G9.Inrecogni onoftheincreasingconcernabouthearthealth,especiallyinconjunc on withphysicalexerciseinatropicalclimate,weshallbeintroducingamandatoryElectroCardiogram(ECG)testfor olderstudents. SuddenCardiacDeathinAdolescents,especiallyduringspor ngac vity,isarecognizedsyndromeandwellover100 childrenayeardieofthisintheUSA.Medicaladviceisthatitmakessensetotestonlystudentswhoare12yearsold andbeyond.Inlightofthis,weshallnowhavetwothresholdsformedicalexamina onsinsteadofthepresentthree.
