Discussion:

Mike Palladino, president of the NYC Detectives IS stopping by to express his appreciation for
your support with their issues . N"YC Detecti ves remain helpful and supportive to the Senate
Majonry. As you know Lou serves as ODe of the ~ Senate Majority appointees 00 the World
Trade Center Task Force .

This group remains strongly opposed to the Gov ernor's third appointee to the PERB board-Eric
Schmertz. Their opposition stems from SC1U11ef1Z' ruling on police CODuaC[S .

wre matter-One of their members ( Detective James Zadroga, 34 yrs old) died in January )
2006 . He was survived by a daughter who IS ·1 years old .The medical examiner directly
linked his death and illness( respiratory) [0 hIS presence at the \VIC site and his rescue and
recovery work .

The Senate Majority working with the Assembly amended the 2005 wrc bill to extend
benefits( line of duty death benefit) to tho se workers who worked at the WTC site and
subsequently rued provided it can be shown thai death was medically related to wre
Exposure. This bill was SlgDed by Governor Patak: last year.
