MERGER & ACQUISITION
 Fortis Healthcareagreed to buy 10 hospitals in India for 9.09
billion rupees ($187 million), The Wall Street Journal
reported. The move was part of an overall design to foster
rapid expansion of Fortis’s private hospital chain.

 With the acquisition, Fortis will own or operate 38 hospitals
across India with 5,200 beds, company officials said.

 Indian health-care consumers are pleased with the increased
presences of efficient and professionally managed hospitals.

INNOVATIVE STRATEGY
 Ranbaxy promoted Fortis Healthcare Limited would continue
with its strategy of entering into Operation and Management
(O&M) contracts with owners of existing and new hospitals
apart from expansion by building new hospitals and
acquiring existing hospitals.

 Fortis already has such contracts with existing and new


hospitals like Jessa Ram Hospital, Fortis La Femme, Rajan
Dhall hospital, Vasant Kunj in New Delhi and Khyber
Medical Institute in Jammu and Kashmir.

 The company is also entering into new satellite and heart


command centre arrangements.
