Taking Moodle and Totara Course Development to the Next

Level to Create Engaging Learning Experiences

Registration: 8.30 am
Workshop starts: 9.00 am
Workshop ends: 12.00 pm
Facilitated by: Grant Beevers, Formerly Head of Learning Technologies, StudyGroup Australasia
About the workshop:
Moodle and its cousin Totara are widely used learning management systems for the education and
corporate sectors. In this workshop, participants will go beyond the boring store and bore LMS
experiences to one where they will explore and create engaging, collaborative learning experiences using
a wide range of core and third party tools which are available for both of these environments. Participants
will take a hands-on approach and play within a sandpit to create their own experiences with these tools.
Grant will also discuss a methodology and leave participants with some tools and templates to help support
them in the creation of engaging and collaborative online learning experiences.
In this interactive workshop, participants will:
Explore core and third party tools to lift the level of student and employee engagement in the learning
management system
Create learning experiences using some of these tools
Explore a methodology to develop engaging and collaborative blended and online learning
Participants should have an interest in creating learning experiences in a learning management system.
Experience in Moodle and/or Totara is not necessary as Grant will focus on using activities and tools which
could are available in most LMS environments or available by 3rd party. Participants should bring a laptop
(preferred) or tablet device to the session. Internet access will be available to all participants in this session.
Note: Participants must bring with them laptops and/or tablets to this workshop
