Use digital-imaging technology to modify or create works of art for use in a digital

presentation. (1,2,6)

 Students will use digital cameras


to create a series of visually
pleasing images of one of
California’s Spanish missions to
help show what daily life was like
for people there. Students will
edit the images using software
such as iPhoto, and create a
slideshow in Power Point, which
includes appropriate captions and
music.
Recognize bias in digital resources while researching an environmental issue with

guidance from the teacher. (3,4)

 Students will research the impact


of mining on California’s
environment using the Internet,
and evaluate their online resources
using Kathy Schrock’s
“The 5 W’s of Website Evaluation

Handout.
Produce a media-rich digital story about a significant local event based on first-

person interviews. (1,2,3,4)

Students will interview a Californian who can share about the 1950s, 60s or 70s in
California, maybe about a specific event, and create a power point presentation
with digital images, from the internet or scanned photos, to share with classmates.
Debate the effect of existing and emerging technologies on individuals, society,

and the global community. (5,6)

 Students will work in groups to


discuss and present the pros and
cons of technology (such as
internet, video games, cell phone
use) in California by creating a
chart with a word processor that
includes images and hyperlinks.
