History
Second Grade
2.3 The student will compare the lives and
contributions of three American Indian
cultures of the past and present, with
emphasis on
a) the Powhatan of the Eastern
Woodlands;
b) the Lakota of the Plains; and
c) the Pueblo peoples of the
Southwest.
In this activity, students will download Brainscape-
Smart Flashcards using the provided iPads. Once
the students have downloaded the app, they will
create 10 flashcards that demonstrates their
understanding of the topic. These flashcards will
also be printed and used later on as their quiz
“cheat sheet”.

In this activity, students will pair up and open up
the MultiDraw app on their provided iPads.
Students will ideate and organize information
together recalling the characteristics of the
Powhatan of the Eastern Woodloands, Lakota of
the Plains, and the Pueblo peoples of the
Southwest. Since this app allows students to
collaborate, there is a replay function that allows
the teacher to see them build their ideas and keep
the students on course.
