EMILY's List Endorses LuAnn Bennett for

Congress in Virginia's 10th District
Endorsement highlights importance of close race
MCLEAN-Today, the national political action committee EMILYs
List announced their endorsement of LuAnn Bennett in the race
for Congress in Virginias 10th District. Founded in 1985, EMILYs
List is the nations largest resource for women in politics. EMILYs
List supports women running for office who can make significant
contributions to health care, voting rights, and economic equality
and who will fight for progressive change.
Im honored to have the support of EMILYs List in this
campaign, LuAnn Bennett said. Women across Northern
Virginia are deeply frustrated with our dysfunctional Congress and
that dysfunction has real consequences for families. We need
leaders who will work to build up our middle class, support small
businesses, make college more affordable and protect womens
access to health care. These are some of the issues that women
in the 10th District tell me their families care most about and they
are the issues I intend to find common ground for in Congress.
Women leaders from across the 10th District also weighed in on
the announcement:

LuAnn Bennett is not only right on the issues that matter most to
Virginia women, but she is also an outstanding candidate,
said State Senator Jennifer Wexton, Having raised three boys
as a single, working mother, LuAnn understands the pressures
that many families in Loudoun County face every day. I know
shell focus on helping us get to and from work on time, providing
our children with a quality education, and ensuring that womens
rights are protected.
Northern Virginians are tired of politicians in Washington trying to
insert themselves between women and their doctors, said State
Senator Barbara Favola, When it comes to which candidate will
protect a womans right to make her own health care decisions,
LuAnn Bennett is the clear choice for voters in the 10th District.
LuAnn Bennett understands that to create economic opportunity,
our students need a quality education, said Loudoun County
Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall, I trust LuAnn to
be a strong voice for education both now, and for future
generations of students in Northern Virginia.
EMILYs List has raised over $400 million to support pro-choice
Democratic women candidates making it one of the most
successful political organizations ever. They recruit and train
candidates, support strong campaigns, research women's issues,
and turn out women voters. EMILYs List has trained over 9,000
women to run and helped elect over 100 women to the House, 19
to the Senate, 11 governors, and over 700 to state and local
office.
