I just came back from a trip to Alaska. My trip was
filled with both hilarious moments and moments I’d
rather forget…it began with a lady mistakenly
thinking I was the boy she was adopting and went on
to the midnight sunrise (I never saw night again in
Alaska). I saw lot of animals and was stuck at the
airport for eleven hours. The trip made me think
about life in that, lots of good things happen
sometimes, but if one little negative thing happens,
we dwell on that instead of focusing on the positives.
Try to focus on the positives this month and enjoy
everything we offer, including PART, the Canned
Food Drive, and Flower Dog Song. Have a great
summer!

The first project that JoshAlly Productions
(one of our movie companies) is working on is a
movie short about our church, BCBC. The project
was introduced by Joshua Ko, president of the Josh
and Ally Ko Company and the BCBC Youth
Council. He came up with the idea after scratching
a similar idea; making a movie called “Adventure
City: The Movie.” “Welcome to BCBC” was
discussed in another Youth Council meeting and
after much consideration and review, it was green
lighted and ideas for its making flowed in.
Additionally, another movie short might come out
as well.

P.A.R.T. Preview: What’s happening at BCBC this

summer?

Do you know what P.A.R.T. is? It’s Nathanael Fong

an organization that consists of several classes,
which range from music to sports. The name,
which Joshua Ko came up with, stands for People
Are Radical Thinkers. These classes are to teach,
and help people improve their skills. These classes
start on July 4 and continue on Sundays through
August 29. Every week, classes will start at 11:15
and end at 12:30. So how did P.A.R.T. begin?
“After many of my protests about Stuffed
Animal Sports, Josh called me and asked if I would
like to be in charge of anything. So I thought, and I
told him on the spot about this. So for the first
Youth Council meeting, he asked me to make a
presentation about it. So I did. It was approved.
When Josh’s mom heard about it, she and Christine
Louie (a member of BCBC) decided to use the idea
for the VBS for this summer. I was surprised. I’m
also glad that I was able to help, and that my friends
and the adults are in to it, and volunteering.” –

July 4- Kickoff Event
Financial Stewardship- Sau-Wing Lam
P.A.R.T. begins with Sau-Wing Lam, a world-
renowned speaker and frequent collaborator on
Asian TV, to speak on financial stewardship. Sau-
Wing has spoken all over the world and is a very
busy man. We are very lucky to have him! Most
people at BCBC know him as one of their members.

Making Welcome to BCBC! (cont. from pg. 2)
building. Eventually, this is going to be used to get
more people to come to our church. By the way,
that is part of the goal that the youth has in mind.
The short will include complete descriptions of the
building and the different rooms, interviews with
the elders, pastors, and the cast.
So far, two scenes have been filmed. Ok, so
it’s not much, but it’s a start. The first scene filmed
was the junior high Sunday School scene. It took
three to four takes and about the same number of
practice shots. Auntie Pearl, the junior high Sunday
School teacher, acted in this scene and did very
well. Nathanael, the main character in this scene,
described all about the Sunday school class, what
we learn about and all of the things we do. The
second scene shot was the first to be shown in the
short; Josh and Natalie, the hosts, introduce the
short and crack some wisecracks.
Additionally, the interviews with the cast
members have also been filmed. Three questions
were asked to them and the cast gave their answers.
Around six to seven cast members where
interviewed. In case you, the reader is wondering
what the questions were, well here they are: How
long have they been attending, 2. What is their
favorite part about BCBC, 3. Why do they like
going. With these answers, the makers hope to
inspire people from around the community to come
and attend. Filming will continue throughout the
summer and JoshAlly Productions are hoping to
complete it during the fall.

Thoughts by Ally 
Did you know that my
Chinese cultural camp called Hip
Wah’s class was going to BART in
San Francisco in the Monterey
Station and some guy got hit by
BART, or that’s what someone
said. I saw all the police and the
guy who got hit. He was all
bruisy and bloody. Some news
lady was filming my friends and
me, but then my friend had to say
hi to the camera and she left.
Darn. I’m not sure if I’m on TV,
but my teacher and my aide were
on it! Yep, we stayed there for like
an hour. Then we walked to
another BART station and IT
WAS CROWDED! But we finally
got on to a crowded BART train,
and made it back to Hip Wah.
For Hip Wah, we have
classes. It’s for which Zodiac
animal year you were born in or
which grade you would go in. So
I’m a tiger. This year I’m going to
7th grade. That means I would be
in Hip Wah 3. So in Hip Wah 3
we go on field trips. We went to
UCSF, The Culinary School in
Sausalito, Oakland Asian Cultural
Center, and The Janet Pomeroy
Center. It was fun! But this He was all bruisy and
column is fun too  bloody.
