Guidance and Counseling Program

Mission
The Guidance and Counseling Department is committed to provide students with a wide
range of learning experiences which will prepare them to be positive, healthy and
productive individuals in which its process is emphasized on meeting the developmental
needs of students in the intellectual, physical, social and emotional areas, in addition to
career planning, preparation and placement.

Vision
The vision of the Guidance and Counseling Department is to be an integral part of each
school’s total educational program and to be essential for every student’s success. A
program that reaches every student and emphasizes a more proactive, wellness oriented
approach.

It is developmental by design and includes sequential activities organized and

implemented by competent guidance counselors and other staff in collaboration with
administrators, teachers, students, parents and other community partners. The basic
premise of the developmental approach is that all students need counseling related
services and that many important aspects of adolescent development can be effectively
delivered to larger groups of students with common needs.
