THEPHILOSOPHYOF
THE
REIDFACILITY
Thephilosophy
ofthe
ReidFacility
is
thateachoffender(resident)
is
responsibleforhisown
behavior.
Webelieveeachresidentshouldhavetheopportunity
to
takeresponsibility
in
helpingset
up
hisown
program
planand
be
heldaccountableforcarrying
it
out.Weassistresidents
to
movefromaveryclosed
and
restrictedsystembackintothecommunity.Weprovidefreedom,withinlimits,andprovide
support
systemstoaideachresident'stransition
to
thecommunity.Eachresident
is
expected
to
haverealisticachievablegoals,whichtheywillpursuewhile
at
the
Reid
Facility.Thesegoalswillfocus
on
asuccessfuladjustment
to
living
in
thecommunity.Goalswillbeformulateduponaresident'sarrival
and
willinclude,butnotbelimitedto,securingemployment,familyadjustment,savingsplan,andestablishingasuitableresidence/releaseplan.Themainemphasis
for
eachresidentattheReidFacilitywillbeinfinding
and
maintainingfull-timegainfulemployment.
At
times,otherneedsmaybemoreimportant,andeachresident
and
hisCase
Manager
willdevelopaprogrambasedonindividualneeds.Oncearesidenthas,obtainedfull-timegainful
employment,
timeaway
from
thefacilitymaybeauthorized
to
spendwithfamilyandfriends.Allottedtime
away
fromthefacility
will
bedetermined
by
theresident'sclassificationandtheParoleOfficerapproval.AllReidFacilitystaffmembersarehere
to
assisteachresident.Uponarrival,residentwillbe
assigned
aCaseManager,but
is
encouraged
to
talkwithanystaffmembertheyfeelcanbe
of
assistance.The
jobplacement
personnelwillassistresidentswithemploymentplacement,willdiscusswithresidentstheirskills
and
plans,andwillreferresidents
to
appointmentsandinterviewswithpotentialemployers.Eachresident's
Case
Manager
has
thedirectresponsibility
of
assistinghiminday-to-dayactivities,and
to
lead,guide;
and
directhiminasmoothandsuccessfulreintegrationintothecommunity.Eachresident'sCaseManagerwillworkcloselywithhiminestablishingshort-termandlong-term
goals,
in
budgetplanning,and
in
resolution
of
anyproblemthatmayariseduringhisresidency.Additionally,therewillbeperiodicTownHallmeetings,aswell
as
buildingmeetings,formanagement
to
addressfacility
concerns
andformanagementtoheartheconcerns
of
residents.'
The
CaseManagerwillassisteachresident
in
establishingasuitablereleaseaddresslhomeplan.
Each
residentwillsubmithisreleaseaddresslhometohisParoleorProbationOfficer
for.
reviewandapprovaLEachresidentwill
be
required
to
attendperiodicmeetingswithhisassignedcasemanager,.and
to.
attend
classes/groupsdesignated
as
conditionsofParoJeordeterminedappropriatewhileformulatinghisgoals.TheReidFacilitywillprovideprograms
on
thefacilitypropertysuchasAdultBasicEducation(ABE);
OED
testingpreparationclasses;HIV/AIDSawareness,counseling,testingandreferral;
AAINA;
sexoffendercounseling;sexoffendertherapygroups,etc.,throughtheuse
of
qualifiedandskilledresourcesandvolunteers
within
thecommunity.

bereferredintothecommunity,foradditionalresources,suchas:DepartmentofAssistiveandRehabilitativeServices,toassistresidentswithspecialneedsand/orhistory
of
substanceabuseinobtainingtoolsforemployment,vocationaltraining,etc.FirstPresbyterianChurch,
to
assistresidentswithfinancialassistance
in
obtaining
a
Texas
IDorDriver'sLicense.Harris

assistresidentsinobtainingagoldcardformedical,dental,
