We live in a world obsessed magnet. thoughts, it might be wise to

by power. The person in
control wins. It is so obvious
that power is sought in the
halls of Congress. We label
people “control
freaks.” Most of us at one
time or another fall into the
trap of wanting power and
control. Whether it’s getting
our way or moving up the
corporate ladder, we all yield
at some point to the control
In stead of seeking power
personally, it is a humbling
thought to remember that
God was in control when He
created a vast universe whose
boundaries even learned
scientists cannot find, hung
the world in space and
separated the land from
water.
Since most of us cannot
even control our own
attach our plans to the one
really in control. Seems it
would give each of us
comfort to know someone
greater that us has our hand
and best interests at heart.
Surrendered power to
God? What would that be
like if we saw it happen in
Washington DC and our
entire nation? A good thing

On rare occasions the
liberal media does allow facts
(either straight or highly
diluted) to creep into its
commentary. We’re plenty
accustomed to that in the
stuff we get from the left side
press and network television
coverage. Not much of it
comes our way via radio
because radio’s liberal talk
shows can’t even scare up
enough liberals to allow those
to survive.
That’s all big city stuff and
we learned long ago that
when those people talk to
places outside of their
metropolitan boundaries they
do so with the clear message
that we are all lesser folk and
way too dumb and naïve to
relate to their superior
knowledge, elegance, and
sophistication. If anyone
questions that as being a
general rule we have only to
look at any copy written by
imported reporters (either
recent graduates, those on
assignment from “big”
media, or someone new to the
job here in Humboldt”. Its
easy to get patronized every
time.
A recent Times Standard
editorial dealt with our gas
tank woes with the $4.10 per
gallon price from the premise
that the cause lies with “the
administrative oil barons led
by the wildcatter in the White
House, and by oil producing
countries”. You gotta’ give
credit beyond all imagination
to President George Bush.
That guy goes to bed early
they say but by golly he is
almost 100 percent
responsible for everything
anybody doesn’t like about
anything, anywhere, any
time.
Too bad the writer doesn’t
take a jaunt to China to watch
the five, six, and seven lane
traffic each way. I don’t
know if it’s as intense in
India but that country has its
multitudes of people and
those societies have entered
the drivers’ markets. If we
don’t pay the price asked for
gas there are ready patrons
panting at the pumps. The
editorial also ridiculed the
suggested moratorium on the
18.4 cent per gallon tax for
the summer. The price cut
doesn’t sound significant on
its face. But if you were the
parent just scraping by who

puts 12-gallon in the tank the
resulting 2.20 left would
about make the difference as
to whether you could pick up
a gallon of milk on the way
home.
Again and again congress
has turned down efforts to
open up oil sources that are
readily available in our own
country. For the sake of votes
politicians turn the measures
down. Even now when the
topic is proposed the
response is that the relief
from such projects is years
away. If we start now that’s a
lot less time than if we are
still talking about it a year
from now, five years from
now—or try for ten or twenty
years more blathering time.
Alternative energy is more
than worthy of great
enterprise. But there’s not
a fool thing wrong with
covering all the bets.
The liberals’ golden boy,
Bill Clinton, had no apparent
past links to the oil industry
nor did the peanut man,
Jimmy Carter, but there
weren’t any big time
advances toward cheap gas in
the years of their
administrations.

helped with clean up, along
with many helping hands.
Meet Mrs. John "Cindy" Mc Cain
There was an article in the
Wall Street Journal on
Cindy McCain,
John"s wife.
All I ever saw was this
attractive woman standing
beside John. I was surprised
how talented and involved with
world problems she is. This is a
summary of the article. She
graduated from Southern Cal
and was a special-needs teacher.
After her Dad died she became
involved with his beer
distributing firm and is now the
chairwoman. Sales have
doubled since she has taken over
from her father.
She and Sen. John McCain
have a marriage prenuptial
agreement; her assets remain
separate.
She is involved around the
world clearing land mines -
travels to these countries on a
detonation team and serves on
their board. The McCains have

a 19 year old serving in Iraq ,
another son in the Naval
Academy , a daughter who
recently graduated from
Columbia Univ. , an adopted
daughter in high school, and a
son who is the finance guy at the
beer firm. Raised kids in
Phoenix , AZ rather than
Washington DC.(better
atmosphere). He commuted.
In 1991, Mrs. McCain came
across a girl in an orphanage in
Bangl adesh. Mother Teresa
implored Mrs. McCain to take
the baby who had a severe cleft
palate. She did so without first
telling her husband. The
couple adopted the girl who has
had a dozen operations to repair
her cleft palate and other
medical problems. They have a
Family Foundation for
children's causes. She's active
with "Halo Trust" - to clear land
mines, provide water and food in
war ravaged and developing

about it which she says is part of

I'm surprised the media is so
quiet about her attributes. She
sounds more capable than

We would really get two for
the price of one. A person with
business and international
experience. John did work for
the firm for awhile when he left
the Navy. She, however, has
the real business experience.

Dear Members,

This is of the utmost importance. Roger Rodoni’s name

appears on the June 3rd Primary ballot. As of press time,

our Governor has not made an appointment for Roger’s

Second District seat. I am calling on all of you to vote for

Roger Rodoni and volunteer to make phone calls, talk to

your neighbors, and encourage them to vote for Roger.

If he gets 50% + 1%, he will win the Primary. At this point,

the governor will be able to appoint a successor who reflects

the ideals and philosophy that Roger stood for. While it may

appear unseemly to campaign for his message, it would be

unseemly not to honor him. A vote for Roger is a vote for

personal freedom and property rights. This is a seat that we

cannot afford lose. The other two candidates are out there

working harder than ever! By letting our voices be heard,

we will be showing an affinity for the values and message of

Roger Rodoni. Remember, when women work, we win!
