About NRSC
National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) is one of the major
Centres of ISRO and ranks among premier organizations in
the world in Remote Sensing and Geospatial Technology.
The activity spectrum of NRSC encompasses aero-space data
acquisition, processing and distribution for a variety of
applications touching the lives of common man, viz.
agriculture, forestry, water resources, climate change
adaptation etc., besides capacity building.
NRSC provides a single window 24x7 service for disaster
management support system. Indian Institute of Remote
Sensing (IIRS) at Dehradun addresses training needs of our
country as well as for Asia-Pacific Region.
The five Regional Remote Sensing Centres of NRSC – RRSC
Central (Nagpur), RRSC East (Kharagpur), RRSC West
(Jodhpur), RRSC North (Dehradun) and RRSC
(Bengaluru) - address region-specific remote
applications needs.

International Women’s Day
Globally, the 8th March of every year has been
earmarked as International Women’s Day (IWD) to
highlight women’s economic, social and political rights
and it is also a day of celebration to mark the
achievements of women in every walk of life.
ISRO has always set example in according priority to
gender equality, and ISRO women have proven their
mettle beyond doubt by contributing equally,
significantly and successfully to the cutting-edge
technology and applications goals of Indian Space
Programme. ISRO has traditionally conducted Annual
Conferences for women, providing an opportunity for
expressing their view points on chosen themes and a
platform for bringing out their specific
accomplishments.
In this year 2011, which coincides with the centenary
celebrations of the IWD world over, NRSC has the proud
privilege to host the National Conference for ISRO
Women.
Theme for the Conference
While the global UN theme chosen for 2011 is “Equal
access to education, training and science and
technology: Pathway to decent work for women”, the
theme c h o s e n b y N R S C , aptly fitting the dawn of
the second decade of 21st Century and also stepping into
101st year of IWD, is Millennial makeover: a paradigm
shift in perception, values and ideas. The Organisers
feel that the local theme chosen by NRSC takes
cognizance of the giant leap made by India in the recent
times, particularly in space science and technology and
the changing roles of ISRO women in meeting the
emerging challenges in this new decade including the
larger ambition of India reaching the coveted status of a
developed country by 2020.
