1. LANGUAGE
Is a system of communication that uses sounds, symbols, and gestures to
convey meaning between individuals or groups. Language is a fascinating and
complex phenomenon that plays a vital role in humans, where it enables us to
express our feelings, thoughts, and exchange messages as a response to others
by having a clear understanding of the ideas being delivered. It can take in many
forms including spoken or verbal, written, sign language, and body language.
Language is also related to culture and identity, and also reflects the
values, beliefs and traditions of a community or a group of people. It has
developed over the years and by adapting to the new social and cultural context,
it continues to shape our world today. For instance, languages evolved new
terminologies and words as societies became more diversified especially with the
rapid emergence of social media and technology in this generation.
● There are particular languages in every country.
○ In the Philippines we use the Filipino language.
○ In China, they have Chinese language or Mandarin.
○ And English is considered as the Universal language.

● Jargon is a specialized language that regards a profession that is difficult

for others to comprehend.
○ For example, in Business Jargon they have "Due Diligence" which
means a process of analyzing data before making a decision.
○ In Medical Jargon, "Bench-to-Bedside" used to describe the
method by which new patient treatments are created, aligned from
laboratory research findings.
● Slang words are particular terms or expressions that are contrary to their
formal definitions and have a cultural meaning. Below are the common
slang words that has been circulating around social medias and became
influential to our language-used.
○ Eme - Just kidding
○ Chika - Asking someone "What's up"
○ Awit - Expression saying "Aw, Sakit!"
○ What's the tea? - A gossip

2. COMMUNICATION
Communication is the exchange of ideas, concepts, information, thoughts, or
emotions between people or groups. A message is encoded by the sender,
transferred across a medium to the receiver, who decodes it and attempts to
understand what it means. Effective communication depends on two parties
being able to understand and interpret each other's messages, which can be
affected by factors including language, culture, and environment. It is essential
for establishing relationships, resolving conflicts, and achieving goals in both
personal and professional contexts.
The communication process can be challenging with difficulties. Disabled
communication alters, leading to misconceptions and communication failures.
We are unable to fully comprehend and accept the information, ideas, and
thoughts that are sent to us by others due to obstacles.
There are various communication examples such as interpersonal, visual
communication, eye contacts, letters and emails, or messages.

3. STYLE
Style is a literary component that describes the author's use of language. It
alludes to the distinctive manner in which language is employed to elicit meaning.
It includes a number of components, including sentence form, figurative
language, tone, and register. The manner in which the author describes events,
things, and ideas reveals the author's writing style. Depending on the writer's
choice of words, they may have meanings beyond what they originally intended.
The context, goal, and audience of a given writing can all influence style.

Below is the exampleusing these two sentences:

1. "The weather forecast predicts a high likelihood of precipitation."
2. "It appears that it will rain cats and dogs today!"

Both lines provide the same information regarding the possibility of rain, but
they are written in different ways. Sentence 1 is more formal, employing technical
jargon and a simple structure. Sentence 2, on the other hand, uses a more
casual and figurative language, employing an idiomatic term to bring color and
imagery to the assertion.

In addition, I found an illustration to better comprehend the definition of Style,

which is to consider it a "Fashion Style." Clothing comes in a variety of styles
such as casual, formal, dressy, and more. It gave flavor and variation to the
literature by using Style aspects.

4. DISCOURSE
Is the way language is structured and used in a specific context or
circumstance is referred to as a discourse in stylistic and discourse analysis. It
entails looking at numerous linguistic elements and how they affect
communication. It also entails researching how language is employed to define
social interactions, express ideas, and convey meaning.

Analyzing a politician's speech, for instance, could serve as an example in a

political conversation. To comprehend the intended message and its impact on
the audience, the analyst would consider the rhetorical devices, language
choices, and persuasive methods that were used. This could involve looking at
how emotional appeals, essential themes repeated, or sarcasm are used to
express a certain tone or viewpoint.
