The advent of the new millennium calls for a new way of thinking.
This includes the way we, as Educators, look at our students.
Concerned with properly guiding the latter, we aimed to develop,
enhance, and nurture their abilities. However, we are now faced with a
seemingly daunting task: That of accurately assessing students’
performance.

Licensure Examination for
Teachers (LET) :

1. There is an increase in the number of LET examinees over the last


7 years, from 97,560 in 1997 to 141,732 in 2002.
2. There were more elementary level teacher examinees than
high school teacher examinees.
3. There were more high school teachers passing the LET than elementary
school teachers.
4. The elementary teacher examinees tend to generally get higher mean
scores in the general education section of the board exam than in the
professional education section while the mean scores of the high
school teacher examinees tend to be generally the same.
5. The elementary teacher examinees generally have lower means than
the high school teacher examinees.

6. The LET result for the elementary does not change
radically over the Last 7 years.
7. There is a positive trend on the frequency of
repeaters/re-takers over the last 7 years.
8. Based on the LET results, the following are the most difficult items
for each group of examinees:
