Dear Fellow Democrats: 1 am writing to respectfully inform you of my intention to seek the Democratic nomination for another term

as Mayor of Ansonia. With your help and support we have accomplished much for our city, but there are more challenges ahead. My intention is to focus on that which we have accomplished while setting forth our goals and plans for the future. Our administration has successfully guided Ansonia throuqh the effects of the deep national recession which began in late 2007 and from which only now is our country recovering. We have managed to tighten our fiscal belts, keeping taxes stable while maintaining vital investments in public safety, education, and upkeep of our infrastructure and recreational opportunities. We have continued to invest prudently in a total overhaul of fire, police and emergency equipment and technology. We continuously strive to make Ansonia a safer, better-protected community than it was 12 years ago. Our volunteer fire department, emergency medical services have modern equipment that will last for a generation. The police department continues to be recognized for its commitment to protecting public safety and for its positive relationships with our citiz~ns. We have kept faith with our children by maintaining school funding at strong levels despite the fiscal challenqes that we face. The performance of our students on state academic achievement testing continues to improve. Later, this year Ansonia will dedicate its new Riverwalk for all of our citizens to enjoy while walking and jogging and reconnecting to the Naugatuck River which powered Ansonia's economy and industrial growth in previous centuries. Ournew water treatment system will soon be completed which will put Ansonia at the forefront of communities fulfilling strong local commitments to clean water for our river and Long Island Sound. ' We will soon be announcing new and exciting plans in the area of green energy which will make Ansonia one of the greenest communities in our state. We will continue to reduce energy costs while improving our independence form dirty and foreign sources of energy. We will keep making progress in reducing density and crime at the Riverside Housing Project, dealing with a slow federal government while improving the safety and quality of life for all of our citizens. We have made dramatic improvements to our city website: www.CityofAnsonia.comincreasing our transparency and public access. We continue to have regular ward meeting to directly hear the concerns of our citizens. My office door remains open for citizens to visit with me directly to express their concerns suggestions and thoughts on local matters. I plan on continuing the progress that we have made and will be putting forth new plans and agendas for a stronger Ansonia. With restored and vigorous health, I plan to work hard to keep Ansonia moving forward and I ask for your support in the campaign ahead.
