Del Cerro Community Council Update September 17, 2011

Good morning Del Cerro: On September 25, the redistricting map for the new city council districts will be final, and it appears the possible referendum did not generate any momentum. The map as it appears on the front page of this months issue of the Mission Times Courier is accurate. I have convened two meetings of the District 7 Steering Committee, made up of the presidents of the planning groups and/or community councils of the new district 7. In November a representative for each of the five communities within the new district 7: Navajo, Tierrasanta, Mission Valley, Serra Mesa and Linda Vista, will make a coordinated presentation to the planning groups to update one another on the communities within the new district. The presentation to the Navajo Community Planners, Inc., will be on Monday, November 21, 7 pm at Temple Emanu-El. We are also going to help coordinate candidate forums within each of the five communities. This will occur after the March 8 candidate filing deadline passes for the June 5 primary election. I have attached an update to an underground utility project currently underway in Del Cerro on Calvin Way and Elmhurst Drive.

Some of the times logged on the hike starting from 5:30 am Lake Murray: Barker Way Trailhead was reached at 7:34 am, at 8.5 miles. Mast Blvd parking area reached at 9:04 am, at 13.1 miles. In to jazz on a Sunday afternoon?

Then stop by the Mission Trails Visitor Center tomorrow, Sunday, September 18, at 3 pm for a free concert in the Theater featuring Paul Seaforth and the MoSax Quartet. Enjoy the funky and swinging bass lines of Joe Kirby, the alto, or soprano saxophone stylings of Paul Seaforth, and the harmonic and rhythmic drive of Michael Gray and Jasen Cotton playing alto and tenor saxes. JAZZ is their language, FUN is their playground. You may not know this, but there's nothing musically more exciting than the synergy created by four saxophones playing in harmony . . . at least that's what Mo'Sax thinks, and their fans think so, too!
