Welcome Back

Welcome back to another exciting school year. The LRC has great plans for the months ahead, full of special projects, global links and plenty of new tools and equipment to make the magic happen. We look forward to sharing our successes with you in the LRC newsletter, which will be released at the end of each month during the school year. The Animation Club in 2011

The ABC Animation Club (AC) has successfully started the semester with twice as many students as last year. Most of last years AC students have returned to continue to being a part of this exciting art initiative in the LRC. This year we are teaching 2 sessions a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and have started anew with the most basic assignments. This allows the students to experiment and understand the principles of the illusion of movement, which is animation. We have also started more difficult projects, like the creation of a cut-out puppet, for the more advanced students, who wish to move further ahead with more challenging projects. Additionally, the AC has joined forces with the Humanities Dept. Rachael Taylor and Amy Nott have joined the Thursday group to help encourage, manage and direct the animation lessons, which include topics taken from the Humanities curriculum. These lessons offer different ways to learn by incorporating some of the curriculum knowledge into animation projects. Once you take into account the Its not an additional humanities attendance, the many topics to choose from and the difficulty level we are approaching, the 2011 AC promises to be one of the most exciting and productive extra-curricular groups within the school community. We have now received 120 new Spanish and English language books which are ready to be borrowed by students. Please check out these new books on our digital bookshelf for new arrivals. We are awaiting the arrival even more books in the upcoming days.

A Message from Hilda: En el LRC estuvimos celebrando los 190 Aniversario de Independencia de El Salvador. Haciendo un recorrido con los alumnos por todo el LRC donde estaban las diferentes actividades como: La comida tpica, trajes tpicos, pinturas, cultivos, juego infantiles, adems aprendieron sobre la historia de El Salvador y lo hermoso que es el pas. Los alumnos se divertieron especialmente con los juego infatiles jugando capirucho, yoyo, jack, canicas y peregrina.
