Each child is taught by adults who are appropriately trained or have experience to
teach children in their Early Years. All teachers and LSAs follow a regular programme
of In-service Training in order to keep abreast with all the latest developments
The relationship between staff and pupils is very close and staff know the children
well and are sensitive to their needs and to their parents aspirations

The school is conveniently situated in the town centre on the same campus as Ysgol
Bro Banw Ammanford. The premises are well maintained and provide a bright
stimulating indoor environment and a secure planned outdoor environment which
promotes active learning.
The security of all staff and pupils on the school premises is at the highest priority
therefore the school gate is locked throughout the day and an intercom is used when
entering the school building.
Please inform the school the school if your child is to be picked up by anyone other
than their parent.

The Council through its Admissions Manager must direct Governing Bodies, and
through them the head teachers, to make it clear to parents that when an outof-catchment child is admitted to any school that it may have an implication
when the child transfers to secondary education. It does not follow that
admission to a primary school automatically allows admission to the catchment
secondary; it is the home address of the pupil which is the determining factor.

During the school year the older children go on a number of educational visits. Parents are
asked to sign a consent form and where necessary to make contribution towards the cost of the
visit.
Their activities beyond the schools boundaries, including visits, performances and links, are
an excellent feature, as they display a very high level of personal and social skills

Rhoddir statws gyfartal ir iaith Gymraeg ar Saesneg; maer holl arwyddion ac maer
llythyron ar e.byst o wybodaeth i rhieni yn ddwyieithog.
Mae gan yr ysgol Gymdeithas Rhieni ac Athrawon weithgar a gwerthfawrogir yr arian
maer gymdeithas yn codi. Defnyddir yr arian yma i brynu adnoddau ychwanegol ir
dosbarthiadau ac ir ardaloedd chwarae tu allan.
Equal status is given to both the Welsh and English language; all signs and letters of
information to parents are bilingual.
There is an active Parent Teachers Association at the school and the money raised by
the association is much appreciated and is used to buy additional resources for the
classrooms and the outdoor learning areas.
Consultation evenings are held at the school every term for parents to discuss their
childs progress.
Every term the parents and child receive a home / school task to coincide with the
terms theme. A display of the items made are placed in the front entrance or the
school yard.
If parents wish to make a complaint the Authority has established procedures which
are available for consultation at the School or, at the Area Education Office, St.Davids
Park, Carmarthen

send home a written report on the childs progress at the Nursery when he/she is
transferring to another school;
place a strong emphasis on quality and high standards in both work and

keep parents informed about any special school events/dates.
The children leave the Nursery School at the beginning of the term before their fifth
birthday. They visit their new school for two days during their last weeks at the
Nursery. A transition form is filled showing the childs achievements in all areas of the
curriculum and transferred to the childs new infant teacher.

LANGUAGE POLICY
Maer ysgol yn Ysgol Feithrin llawn amser ac ynddi ddwy ffrwd (Dwyieithog). Rhennir y
plant yn ieithyddol yn l dewis y rhieni. Tri dosbarth sydd yn yr ysgol, un lle maer
Gymraeg yn gyfrwng ir dysgu a lle mae Saesneg yn cael ei ddefnyddio i helpu plentyn
o gefndir Saesneg i ymgartrefu. Dysgir y ddau dosbarth arall trwy gyfrwng y Saesneg
ac maer Gymraeg yn cael ei chyflwyno fel ail iaith.
O fewn y dosbarthiadau dysgir y plant fel dosbarth cyfan, grwpiau yn l oedran am y
dymor cyntaf ac yna l grwpiau datblygiadol.
Ethos Gymraeg sydd ir ysgol, lle maer staff i gyd yn ddwyieithog ac yn siarad
Cymraeg ai gilydd bob amser a fe gyflwynir yr holl ddisgyblion i storiau a
thraddodiadau Cymreig.

The school is a full time bilingual Nursery School (Dual stream). The pupils are
streamed linguistically according to parental choice. There are three classes in the
school, one where the medium of teaching is Welsh with English used to settle a child
from an English background. The other classes are taught through the medium of
English with Welsh being introduced as a second language.
Within each class the children are taught as a whole class, in groups according to age
for the first term and thereafter in groups according to their stage of development.
The ethos of the school is Welsh where all the staff are bilingual and speak Welsh to
each other at all times and all the pupils are introduced to Welsh stories and traditions.
Provision for the Welsh language and the Welsh dimension is superb. An excellent
example of this is how such young pupils can discuss the work of Sir Kyffin Williams
and other famous Welsh people such as Aneurin Bevan.

Rhoddir arweiniad a chlod ir plant syn gwrtais ac yn ymddwyn mewn ffordd
dderbyniol a fe dynnir sylw at arfer dda ac fe adeiledir ar yr arfer hwnnw.
Os digwydd unrhyw gamymddwyn bydd y plentyn yn derbyn cerydd ar lafar wrth yr
athrawes ddosbarth ac os oes angen caiff gerydd ychwanegol wrth y Pennaeth. Yn
achlysurol efallai y bydd rhaid cysylltu r rhieni er mwyn trafod y mater.
Mae eu hymddygiad yn rhagorol a maent yn ymddwyn yn aeddfed a hyderus iawn
wrth ymwneud i gilydd, y staff ac gydag oedolion eraill.

Guidance and appraisal is given to courteous and well behaved children and attention
is drawn to good practice which is being encouraged at all times.
If an incident of misbehaviour arises the child receives a verbal reprimand from the
class teacher and if necessary a further verbal reprimand from the Head Teacher.
Occasionally it may be necessary to consult with the parents to discuss the matter.
Their behaviour is excellent and they behave maturely and very confidently when
dealing with each other, with staff and with other adults.

fe roddir cymaint o sylw unigol ag sydd yn bosib i blant g anghenion arbennig prun ai
yn blentyn araf neu yn alluog.
Anogir y rhieni i ddod ir ysgol i drafod datblygiad addysgol eu plentyn gan yr athrawes
ddosbarth yn gyson.
Dilynir y cd ymarfer A.A.A. ac maer staff yn mynychu cyfarfodydd cyson i ddiweddaru
gwybodaeth. Os oes problem tymor hir gan blentyn maer brifathrawes gyda chaniatad
y rhieni yn galw am help arbenigol ychwanegol oddi wrth asiantaethau allanol fel y
Seicolegydd Addysg ar Therapydd Llefaredd.
Mae asesiad cychwynol o fewn y chwech wythnos cyntaf ar gyfer datblygiad iaith a
llafaredd. Maer plentyn wedyn yn cael sesiynau ychwanegol yn ystod y dydd.
Maer dosbarthiadau ar iard chwarae ar yr un lefel ac mae ramp yn arwain at ddrws
dwbwl ym mynedfar ysgol ar gyfer cadeiriau olwyn.
An equal opportunity policy for boys and girls, pupils of all races and cultures is
administered in the school and pupils with special educational needs, either slow
learners or able pupils receive as much individual attention as possible.
Parents are encouraged to discuss their childs educational progress with the class
teacher on a regular basis.
The S.E.N. Code of Practice is followed and staff attend regular meetings to update
information. If a child has a long term problem the Head Teacher with the parents
consent, will seek further professional advice from outside agencies such as the

Parents are the childs first educationalists and they continue to play an important role
in their childrens education after theyve started school.
The starting point is what the child can do and the aim is to progress to the next step
through new first hand experiences.
A continuous record of the childs progress whilst at the Nursery School is kept in an
electronically and in a file comprising of:

Results of the child development assessment profile.
Every term a parents evening is held to discuss the progress of their child. Every child
will be given an educational written report at the end of their term at the Nursery

TOILEDAU
TOILETS
Mae chwech toiled yn yr ysgol i gyd gyda chwech sinc i olchi dwylo. Maer toiledau yn
cael ei glanhau ar ddiwedd pob dydd ac hefyd gan aelodau o staff trwy gydol y dydd.
There are six toilets in total in the school with six wash basins for hand washing. The
toilets are cleaned by the cleaner at the end of every school day and are also cleaned
by members of staff throughout the day.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE
Os oes gan riant gwn, y drefn arferol yw i drafod yr achos gydar athrawes ddosbarth
yn y lle cyntaf, yna gydar pennaeth a fydd yn cyfeirior gwn at
lywodraethwyr yr Ysgol os na chaiff yr achos ei ddatrys mewn ffordd bodlonol.
If a parent has a complaint about anything, the normal procedure is to speak to the
teacher, followed by the Headmistress who will refer the matter to the Governors
should the matter not be addressed satisfactorily.

rheswm dros yr absenoldeb. Rhaid cysylltu r ysgol pob dydd mae eich plentyn yn absennol.
Os dydyn ni ddim wedi derbyn galwad ffn erbyn 9.30yb, bydd yr ysgol yn cysylltu chi.
Apwyntiadau meddygol
Os yn bosib, rhowch wybod ir ysgol am unrhyw apwyntiadau meddygol yn ystod oriau ysgol cyn
y dyddiad.
Absenoldeb yn ystod y tymor.
Bydd unrhyw wyliau syn cael eu cymryd yn ystod y tymor yn cael eu nodi heb ganiatad. O dan
amodau eithriadol, gall yr ysgol yn gyfreithlon caniatau absenoldebau, ond dydy gwyliau ddim
yn gallu cael eu cynnwys. Dylid danfon llythyr yn gofyn am ganiatad ir ysgol cyn y cyfnod o
absenoldeb, cyn i ganiatad gael ei rhoi neu beidio. Os dydyr ysgol ddim yn derbyn llythyr,
gallair absenoldeb fod heb ganiatad, ac hefyd gall enwr plentyn gael ei gymryd bant or
gofrestr.
9.00am. Children should be collected promptly at 2.45pm, which is the end of the school day. If
an unavoidable delay occurs, please contact the school as soon as possible.
What to do if your child is absent from school
Please phone on the first day of absence leaving your childs name, class and reason for
absence. This needs to be done every day that your child is absent from school.
If we have not heard from a parent by 9:30am as to why their child is absent from school, we
will ring all the contact numbers registered for that child until contact is made.
Medical Appointments
If possible, please advise the office prior to the date of all medical appointment to be held
during school hours.
Leave of Absence during Term Time
Holidays taken during term time are classed as unauthorised absence. The school may legally
authorise a request for leave where there are 'exceptional circumstances' but these cannot
include holidays. A written request should be submitted to the school before the leave can be
authorised and taken. If this is not done, the absence may be recorded as unauthorised and this
could lead to the childs name being removed from the register.
