CANTEEN DAY

WHITE ants have ravaged the halfwooden structure housingSMK Methodist Girls Schools counselling and prefects room. The old part of the school building, put up in 1925, could collapse. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) president Mark Tan said the structure should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent any untoward incidents from happening. We are afraid that the old structure could collapse as the timber holding the roof is being attacked by white ants. We do not want the students to get hurt, he said.

Eaten up: Tan and PTA deputy president S. Sugumaran examining the room ravaged by white ants at the school.

Tan added that the Canteen Day on June 30, with 88 stalls, including games booths, would be held to raise funds for a new school block. SMK Klang Methodist Girls School has 1,634 students and 83 teachers and is a partially aided school. We hope to raise RM200,000 from the sale of tickets. Each ticket book is RM5 and about RM90,000 worth of coupons have been given out to students to sell. We hope the public will come to the canteen day and help us realise our target, he said.
