In The Outsiders, Darry shows extreme selflessness when, after his parents are killed in a car crash, he gives up a football scholarship and the opportunity to get a college degree, to stay home, and work at two jobs to support his two underage brothers. He never complains. He is always there for his brothers. Even though he is giving up a lot, he still makes that sacrifice.

In Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie, Steven and Jeffreys mom shows extreme selflessness. She quits her job as a teacher to take care of Jeffrey and take him to the hospital in Philadelphia. She will be away from her husband and her other son, Steven, but she still makes that sacrifice.
