Directions for teacher: Have students get into groups.

Then, cut the scenarios where the

dotted lines are. Give 1 slip to each group and have them play out the given scenario and
what they would do to positively and correctly handle the situation.

Scenario 1: You have a close-knit group of 3 in your friend group. However, one of
your friends, Clayton, has started being kind of rude to you and your other friend. He
makes fun of you a lot, hits you and gets mad at you both for everything. Clayton
says it’s all a joke, but it’s just not funny anymore. It feels hard to be their friend and
you and your other friend agree that Clayton has taken it too far.

Scenario 2: You’ve had a crush on someone in your 2nd period and they asked if you
wanted to sit with them during lunch today. You say yes and meet up after you grab
your plate. While you’re sitting with your crush and their friends, they start making
fun of your next-door neighbor, Clarissa, who you’ve known since preschool. They
start getting louder and louder and eventually Clarissa can hear everything that your
crush and their friends are saying. You feel bad for Clarissa but don’t want to look
bad in front of your crush.

Scenario 3: Someone from your school made an Instagram ”hate page” about a
teacher that you really like. They take and find pictures of this teacher and post them
on the page with hurtful captions like, “like this picture if you want this teacher fired”
and “I cannot sit in class another day looking at this ugly face.” You feel like it’s wrong
to not say anything, but you’re scared that you’ll get bullied for reporting it if you tell
an adult.

Scenario 4: A boy in your grade, Jordan, wears the same clothes every day. You
heard him say once that his family doesn’t have a lot of money, but you never
thought anything of it. That is, until you and your classmate Karla were put into a
group with Jordan. When you all get into the group together, Karla says right in front
of Jordan, “That sucks that we have to work with the smelly kid.” You see that
Jordan shuts down and gets tears in his eyes.

Scenario 5: The “popular girl” in your grade always comes off very passive-
aggressive. She comes up to you and asks what book you’re reading and then turns
to laugh with her friends after you answer. She then asks you if she can borrow
your shirt sometime, even though you know she’s not being serious. She keeps
asking you questions but comes off disingenuous and sarcastic.
