P rogram Thinking for Deployment Training

P urpose : Introduce Constructionism as a learning theory and approach in education. P ermission to explore: Setting the learning culture for exploration & creation Theory of Constructionism (Learning Theory) by Prof Seymour Papert (MIT) On Learning:
The word constructionism is a mnemonic for two aspects of the theory of science education underlying this project. From constructivist theories of psychology we take a view of learning as a reconstruction rather than as a transmission of knowledge. Then we extend the idea of manipulative materials to the idea that learning is most effective when part of an activity the learner experiences as constructing a meaningful product."

On Computers:
Just as pendulums, paints, clay, and so forth, can be messed around with, so can computers. Many people associate computers with a rigid style of work, but this need not be the case. Just as a pencil drawing reflects each artists individual intellectual style, so too does work on the computer.
