The Padres dropped an 8-7 decision to theDiamondbacks yesterday, letting a one-run lead slip away in theninth...the Friars threatened in the bottom half of the inning, begin-ning with a solo shot by Blake Tekotte and finally going down withthe tying and winning runs on base...Robbie Erlin (2.0), ErnestoFrieri (1.0), Joe Thatcher (1.0) and Cory Burns (1.0) each tossedscoreless ball for the Friars...in addition to Tekotte, Orlando Hudsonalso connected, hitting a two-run shot in the fourth inning.
Cory Luebke takes the hill today, making hissecond start of the Spring...he struck out four over 2.0 scorelessinnings in his first outing 3/7 at CIN...signed as the 63rd overall pickin 2007, he made his first Opening Day roster in 2011, beginningthe season in the bullpen before making his way to the startingrotation...he finished the year with 17 starts and 29 relief appear-ances, going 5-8 with a 3.31 ERA (37 ER/100.2 IP) as a starter...limited opponents to a .209 average on the year, fifth-best everby a Padres pitcher with 100-or-more innings pitched and the bestever by a Padres rookie.

INF Logan Forsythe underwent a procedure Friday,performed by Dr. Heinz Hoenecke at the Scripps Surgery CenterCarmel Valley, to have a bone in his left foot removed…recoverytime is estimated at six to eight weeks.

The Padres have 61 players in Big Leaguecamp...with a full 40-man roster and 21 non-roster invitees, thesquad features 29 pitchers (eight southpaws), seven catchers,15 infielders and 10 outfielders...entering camp, the club has 16players on the 40-man roster who were not at the beginning of2011 Spring Training.
