CACTUS LEAGUE ACTION:
The Padres enter today’s game at3-6...over the Spring slate, the Friars play a total of 34 games inArizona before heading home for a workout on 4/2 followed bytwo games against the Royals (4/3 at Petco Park and 4/4 in LakeElsinore)...the club’s Cactus League schedule includes five remain-ing split-squad games (March 14, 18, 24, 27, 31).
LAST TIME OUT:
The Padres dropped an 8-7 decision to theDiamondbacks yesterday, letting a one-run lead slip away in theninth...the Friars threatened in the bottom half of the inning, begin-ning with a solo shot by Blake Tekotte and finally going down withthe tying and winning runs on base...Robbie Erlin (2.0), ErnestoFrieri (1.0), Joe Thatcher (1.0) and Cory Burns (1.0) each tossedscoreless ball for the Friars...in addition to Tekotte, Orlando Hudsonalso connected, hitting a two-run shot in the fourth inning.
TODAY’S STARTER:
Cory Luebke takes the hill today, making hissecond start of the Spring...he struck out four over 2.0 scorelessinnings in his first outing 3/7 at CIN...signed as the 63rd overall pickin 2007, he made his first Opening Day roster in 2011, beginningthe season in the bullpen before making his way to the startingrotation...he finished the year with 17 starts and 29 relief appear-ances, going 5-8 with a 3.31 ERA (37 ER/100.2 IP) as a starter...limited opponents to a .209 average on the year, fifth-best everby a Padres pitcher with 100-or-more innings pitched and the bestever by a Padres rookie.
ON THE MEND:
INF Logan Forsythe underwent a procedure Friday,performed by Dr. Heinz Hoenecke at the Scripps Surgery CenterCarmel Valley, to have a bone in his left foot removed…recoverytime is estimated at six to eight weeks.
THE FUTURE:

are in camp this Spring...that list includesINF Yonder Alonso (1), C Yasmani Grandal (2), OF Rymer Liriano(3), RHP Casey Kelly (4), INF Cory Spangenberg (5), INF JeddGyorko (7), RHP Joe Wieland (8) and LHP Robbie Erlin (9)...
Base- ball America 
also recently released their ranking of the top 100prospects in baseball, including Alonso (33), Grandal (53), Kelly(76), Spangenberg (78) and Gyorko (98)…in total, the club had sixplayers featured in the top 100 which were tied for the most amongall clubs (also, Athletics, Cardinals and Rangers).
ROSTER TALK:
The Padres have 61 players in Big Leaguecamp...with a full 40-man roster and 21 non-roster invitees, thesquad features 29 pitchers (eight southpaws), seven catchers,15 infielders and 10 outfielders...entering camp, the club has 16players on the 40-man roster who were not at the beginning of2011 Spring Training.
ROOKIE ROUND-UP:
29 of the 61 players in camp will qualify asrookies in the 2012 season, with 13 of those 29 on the 40-manroster...the 13 consist of Brad Brach, Erik Hamren, Nick Vincent,Jose De Paula, Juan Oramas, Yasmani Grandal, James Darnell,Andy Parrino, Edinson Rincon, Cory Spangenberg, Jeudy Valdez,Rymer Liriano and Blake Tekotte.
PADRES ON THE RADIO:
Each day there is a Padres game, youwill be able to hear it broadcast in English on 1090 AM or 1700...one game will be broadcast on days there are split squad games...the action will be brought to you by Ted Leitner, Jerry Coleman,Andy Masur and newcomer Bob Scanlan...in addition, all Saturdayand Sunday games will be broadcast in Spanish on AM 860, withEduardo Ortega and Juan Avila calling the action.

The Little League season has kicked off in SanDiego, with players all over the county sporting their new Padresuniforms thanks to the club’s Youth Baseball Initiative...the programhas supplied over 11,600 Little Leaguers with Padres uniforms,representing 20 different styles from throughout the club’s history.
