Happy 79th Birthday Alpha Sigma!!!!!

Alpha Sigma Sisters, We had a great time at our prospective new members orientation. It was great and I am happy to report we do have a new member, Sarah Allen. I am sure Sarah will be highlighted in one of the newsletters. This has been a very fast year for us and we are almost to the finish line! April 14th will find us meeting for the last time this year with just our chapter. Our May meeting will be the Founders meeting with the other four chapters of Lubbock. Be sure and mark your calendar for the May meeting. We want Alpha Sigma to be represented well. Remember, this meeting is our fund raiser. You are to bring some craft item for the silent auction. It does not have to be something you made but a craft of some kind. Shalan has it all worked out for secret names so no one will know who bought which craft!!!! We still have to work at Scholastic for our community service. This will be discussed at the April meeting. Our members will have a little educational lesson on learning how Scholastic handles all the ins and outs of distribution and selling of books. You dont want to miss this opportunity of service. Begin thinking about how you can become a more productive member of Alpha Sigma. Shalan will be handing out committee sheets at the April meeting. Please consider on which committee you would like to serve. Look at all the committee in our yearbook. Is there one that you feel is just right for you? Or maybe just .get out of your comfort zonetry a new committee!!! Thanks to Judy, Shalan and Gencie for completing the form for the Annie Award. Our board will be displayed at the state convention. Spring brings fresh ideas and a renewal. As we watch the flowers bloom this spring may we also watch our chapter bloom and grow with two new members, Sarah Allen and Tina Thompson, new ideas and new beginnings with a new biennium president, Shalan Inmon. Please remember Paula as she has the first of several surgeries for her back. Our thoughts and prayers will be with her through this difficult time. Since Paula will be indisposed for a time please send your RSVP to Judy for the April meeting. The cost is for the brunch is $14.00. April blessings, Marlene

Alpha Sigma Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma Society International March 20, 2012 Ten members of the Alpha Sigma Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International attended the March 20, 2012 meeting which was held at the Lubbock Womens Club, 2020 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas at 5:00 p.m. We were joined by the Alpha Kappa Chapter for this 2012 Orientation Meeting. The chairman of the Coordinating Council, Carla Moore, welcomed the group. She was assisted by Marlene Wellman, Alpha Sigma Chapter President. The two chapter presidents introduced their prospective members. The chairman then presented a power point program about Delta Kappa Gamma International. Several members commented on various aspects of Delta Kappa Gamma as well as what the organization means to them. Following the program, refreshments were served to all those attending.
