Dear Parents and Children

Each week when I am compiling the newsletter, I think to myself that I am sure next week will not be as busy and yet each week I am happily surprised by the many learning activities and experiences our children enjoy. This week we have been able to celebrate Mass with Father Gerard and the children were beautifully reflective throughout. It was a delight to welcome so many local parishioners and parents who joined us for the Mass. Our next Mass is at St Thomass Church on May 24th. If you have time it would be lovely to share this celebration with you. Year 1 visited a local farm thanks to the organization of Mrs. Kidd and the warm welcome of Mr. and Mrs. Smith at Idlecombe Farm. When I asked the children what they had enjoyed they each had a completely different answer, which tells you how exciting it must have been. Year 4 were enthralled by a visit to Lynbottom Tip with Mrs. Caterer. The highlight was the use of falconry to prevent birds scavenging the site! This recycling theme fits in very much with the ideas of stewardship we are sharing with the children. We have trips planned to castles and libraries in the next few weeks so do keep your eyes out for the letters coming home. In our Collective Worships we have been exploring how the school is a collection of jigsaw pieces that when joined together create our community. We are focusing on four pieces Our Mission, Our Vision, Our Actions and Our Stewardship. At the end of this newsletter is a further explanation and the children will also be happy to show the jigsaw pieces to you. Mrs. M Sanderson
