Newsletter 14th November 2014

Dear Parent,
This week has seen our friends from Goonhavern School in Cornwall visit us. 30 children spent
Monday in school with Year 6. On Tuesday both schools visited Villa Park; on Wednesday and
Thursday the Cornish children visited lots of other places in Birmingham. Year 6 have made lots of
new friends and we are all looking forward to our visit to Cornwall in June next year.
After School Clubs
This half term we have the following after school clubs taking place: Choir, netball, cookery,
Christmas crafts, gymnastics, forest school and gardening club. We now have over 190 children
who come to after school clubs, which is wonderful, but it does mean that we cannot accommodate
parents waiting in school. If anyone has a problem with this please come and talk to a member of
the senior leadership team. Please remember children taking part in either after school football
clubs must wear football boots and shin pads.
Holiday Clubs
All Stars are thinking about running holiday clubs which will provide childcare for children with
parents who work. If you would be interested in this, please fill in the form that was sent out
earlier this week.
Nursery Pirate Day
This week in nursery, children have had an incredible time as pirates! We have hunted for treasure,
sailed the seven seas and even had the chance to meet a real life parrot. Our pirate dress up day
was a huge success and all the children looked fabulous. Thank you for all your effort to help the
children have a really special day.
Socks and Chocs
After our wonderful response last year, we will again be collecting pairs of socks (clean) and bars
and boxes of chocolates of any size to donate to our local SIFA Fireside homeless shelter. Please
bring all donations into class and Miss McAll will collect them. We are runni ng a competition where
the class with the most donations will receive a prize. This collection will be continuing until
Wednesday 17 th December. Please give generously to support our local homeless at this time.
Gifted and Talented Maths Group
Last week some of our Year 5+6 children went to Mere Green School in Sutton Coldfield to take
part in a gifted and talented maths day. The children took part in various maths challenges which
they thoroughly enjoyed.
Attendance
This week the schools overall attendance was 95.4%. The classes with the highest attendance
were:
