We have now gone live with our new online consultation
service – Patient Triage.
Our aim is to be able to book you with the right clinician within the right time frame
for your symptoms or concerns.
Please keep your phone with you and check your messages as we may not call
but book you straight into an appointment – this could be on the same day, soon
or as a routine follow-up.
This is also a great way for you to contact our practice for non-urgent or admin
requests.
It is very simple to fill out, so please do use it if you need to contact us.
Although the character count is limited on the form, please try to give as much
specific and concise information as possible.
We really think it is easier for most people but would love to hear your feedback.
If you do not have access to the internet or find it difficult to use a computer or
smartphone you can call our dedicated reception team instead. Access to our staff
has not changed, it has been enhanced using this online access.
Don't worry, we will still call you on your preferred telephone number.
You can access the new form from our website:

TO ALL PARISHIONERS
TO ALL PARISHIONERS
Dear Parishioners
Are you ready for Christmas if a phrase we often hear this time of year,
well in truth my answer is usually I haven't even started getting ready.
Advent Sunday on 3rd December heralds in 4 weeks of preparation even through the
shops and supermarkets have been advertising things for Christmas since
September. Advent is the season for preparing not only to celebrate the birthday of
our Lord but also to prepare for His coming again.
Its the time of year when “It's a Wonderful Life” often is on television. It is the
quintessential Christmas story with a hero and a villain and we all know that the
good guy wins in the end. That Christmas Eve in Bedford Falls reminds us all of
Christmases past as we look to the coming of the baby Jesus this year, and Christ
who is to come in the future.
Like George Bailey, we sometimes focus on the negative. Our world today can
present us with many reasons to lose hope, our TV screens are full of war and
destruction and so much negativity. We can become so tied up with all that is bad
and with distractions that make it easy to miss the true meaning of the Christmas
season. But in fact, this is the season of light, whether from the lights of the
Christmas tree, the glow of the Advent wreath candles, the flame of the Menorah, or
perhaps simply our wonderful Norfolk skies on a rare day of sunshine in December.
If only we can take time to stop and gaze in wonder. All of these can remind us of the
presence of God and the promise of hope that is fulfilled in this holy season.
Remember that behind the packages and the lights is the radiance that is our God.
See the hope in the faces of the people around you. See it in the faces of your family
and friends and fellow workers. See it in your own face when you look in the mirror.
Doing this will allow each of us to welcome that little baby on Christmas, the way that
Mary and Joseph so willingly welcomed him into their lives. And know that God so
lovingly welcomes us into His.
Have a quiet Advent, a Merry Christmas hope for the New Year
with every blessing from all of the Ministry Team

With much gratitude I thank all our foodbank supporters for the awesome donations
of food, cash and warm winter clothing we have received. It has been a pleasure to
give to the families struggling with finances. I am also now appealing for help with
putting together some Christmas hampers so we can make sure that the families can
have a joyful Chrismas dinner. Donations of cash or Christmas food and other
related things would be much appreciated.
The Tuesday breakfasts will run every Tuesday until 19th December and will
restart on 9th January.
Community meals will be on every other Thursday until the 14th December
which will be the pensioners Christmas Dinner, resuming on 11th January.
The final foodbank of the year will be 22nd Dec when hopefully hampers will be
given to each family ,and resuming on 12th January. I hope everyone will dig deep
to help me to provide a good Christmas for our wonderful seniors and for our lovely
foodbank users Please contact me if you can help in any way at all

First of all a huge THANK YOU to anyone who supported our Bags2Schools Charity
Bag collection.
We collected over 200 bags and raised an amazing £425 which will be shared
between the units. Thank you everyone very much for your support.
Many members from our Girlguiding units had the opportunity to take part in a
sleepover during October half term. The Guides stayed at the Methodist Church Hall
in Hunstanton. We had a very warm welcome on arrival with hot drinks and biscuits –
there was a Coffee Morning in progress!
After lunch we walked down to the Lifeboat Station at Old Hunstanton where we had
a brilliant water safety session with Kate and learnt about the hovercraft and the
lifeboat which they have stationed there. From there we went into Hunstanton and
warmed up with hot chocolate before a very competitive game of bowling at the Pier
Entertainment centre.
Back to the Methodist Church Hall for some Halloween themed activities, having
ordered our fish and chip supper. After supper we watched a film accompanied by
lots of chocolate and popcorn. Some sleep was had, before we finished off with more
activities and games and headed home.
Unfortunately, the weather was not very kind to us but we all had a great time. I think
we should go again in the summer!
Gayton Brownies had their sleepover at Hunstanton Sealife Centre, sleeping in the
shark and ray tank tunnel, or next to the huge tank window with amazing views of the
creatures, including Ernie the turtle. We enjoyed a tour of the centre which included
a chance to carefully hold starfish and stick insects and learn lots of amazing facts
about them. After some creative craft we settled down with hot chocolate to watch
The Little Mermaid film before settling into our sleeping bags to sleep. In the morning
we were able to watch the otters and seals after breakfast before heading home.
In Girlguiding we really do have some wonderful adventures!
If you are reading this in very early December, do come along to our
Christmas coffee evening on Monday 4th December 6 – 8pm, where we will have
stalls, refreshments, tombola etc. all are welcome. Catherine Leigh

The work on the new sound system is now complete and we can hear everything
without having to stand in one place.
The recording of the bells has been well received. Other suggestions have been
made such as a recording of the last post for Remembrance Day. These are things
that can be looked at during the coming year. Our thanks go to Chris Sykes and
Steve Williamson for the input they have given and to CAV for the installation. I and
Rev. Sue Martin have to get our heads round the system, modern technology not
being at my forte!
The attendance at the Remembrance Service was fantastic around 120 in the
congregation including the Rainbows, Brownies Guides and Rangers some of whom
took part in the service.
Unfortunately I have to make a repeated request that many have commented on in
the Village of Gayton. Please if you walk your dog through the churchyard keep it on
a lead and clean up after it. Recently a great big heap was left in the path obviously
by a big dog the owner must have known it had done it and ignored it. Two people
walking side by side may not have noticed it and on entering the church may have
treaded it all over the carpet. Please be a responsible dog owner and clear up after
your dog.

OPEN LETTER TO GRIMSTON CRICKET CLUB
When my husband, Michael, and I moved to Grimston in June 2003 from
Twickenham we were both incomers and townies!!
One of our very early pleasures came from Grimston Cricket Club which was
very much in its heyday at that time. Driving past the ground on a sunny Saturday or
Sunday afternoon it was a true picture of an idyllic English village to see the white
garbed teams playing against the background of trees, fields and their very own
thatched clubhouse. It made our hearts sing and also confirmed what we already
knew, we had made the right decision! I remember that there was an elderly couple
who lived in a bungalow directly opposite the ground who used to watch every home
match from the comfort of their own front garden whilst leaning on the wall with a cup
of tea.
Over the years we saw a sad decline in the activities of Grimston Cricket Club; fewer
home fixtures to maintain our rural idyll; the front garden supporters were no more
and the highlight of the year at the ground became the Great Snail Race each July.
Then along came Sam Adkin, Mark Tilbrook, Tim Tilbrook et al who set about raising
Grimston Cricket Club to its former glory. Year round youth coaching for boys and
girls formed the basis which has led to over 50 players taking part plus teams at both
Under 9's and 13's level. Further expansion is forecast. The adults team play in the
Mid-Norfolk Sunday Cricket League. However, laudable as these achievements are
they are not the primary reason for me writing this open letter; it is rather the
dramatic impact which has been made on the communities of Grimston, Congham,
Roydon and Pott Row and further afield including Massingham, East Winch and
Gayton. The overwhelming success of Grimston Cricket Club is solely due to the
hard work, determination, dedication and commitment of those who manage it. From
the outset it was made clear that they wanted the Club to become a community hub
which it has achieved if the list of sponsors is anything to go by. The management
has succeeded in securing the Club's place at the heart of the community as it
comes together for home matches at all levels, volunteering to help with ground
maintenance , help on match days with car parking and the essential and
quintessential cricket teas. The management have worked tirelessly seeking out
grants to improve facilities and have been more than willing to help local charities
find similar support.
Grimston Cricket Club is successful because a small group of people cared enough
about the villages and their communities to ensure that the Club would continue to
provide a focus for villagers of all ages. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Grimston
Cricket Club which could best be repaid by attending home matches and fund raising
events – the last Bingo evening sold out within hours – and by volunteering a little of
your time to make sure they never return to playing on a sticky wicket!!

And Finally....
Merry Christmas. Thanks for pudding up with
