Recently sone new road signs appeared at the top of Broad
Drove, pointing south to Eastgate Drove. Actually, Eastgate
Drove starts in Hillington on the A148, runs through
Congham Woods, crosses the B1145 at Gayton Thorpe and
terminates at East Walton. This is a great help to me as I'm
always being asked if Eastgate Drive is the Old Peddars
way which runs from nearly Thetford across most of North
West Norfolk, ending at Ringstead. A really good ride one
summer evening, only people with a four wheel drive must
attempt this.

I usually played team sports, but in my late teens while still

at Boarding school, I was a quite successful athlete. I have
attached a photo of myself helping at the Cross Country at
Langley boarding school. I also won the 440yards run in a
time of 54.5 seconds.
In the photo, standing beside me is my last Headmaster at Langley. Mr Young
was one of the tallest men I have ever known, he stood 6'7” as you can see in the
photo. Just to think in 2023 at the age of 76 I can barely walk or put on a pair of
running shoes.

 A super start to the Autumn term at Holly Meadows!

Our newest Puffins reception children have settled in so well and children across
the school have been enjoying their learning. We are delighted with the selection
of beautiful books that have been kindly bought for us by the Parish Council;
thank you to all involved. I am sure that they will be very well read by the end of
the year!

We have been busy electing our new House Captains and School Council
representatives this week, an opportunity to discuss the themes of democracy
and leadership. The children will be able to put their skills to great use, helping us
to create and implement an action plan to improve playtimes and lunchtimes, as
well as contributing ideas for other school improvements.

If you are shopping in Tesco between October and January, you will see that our
'Stronger Starts' project has been put forward and we would be extremely
grateful if you would vote for us. We would like to teach children about food
sustainability and how to grow their own fruit and vegetables, developing the
interior of our polytunnel so that more children can get involved. The project
funding would really help us to achieve this goal. The blue token voting system
will commence at the beginning of October in the Gaywood, South Wootton,
Wootton Road and Hardwick stores.

If you have a child who is due to start school in September 2024, we would like to
invite you to one of our open days so that you can see our lovely school in action.
These tours will be on Monday 9th and Thursday 12th October at 9:30am. Please
