In the meantime it is
important to point out
to community
members and dog
owners in particular,
their responsibilities in
relation to dog
ownership. All dogs
must be on leads when
in or around the school
grounds; these dogs
should be under the
supervision of an
adult, who must take
responsibility for the
behaviour of their dog.
A group of four year 6
students attended a
wreath making session at
the Upper Yarra

The wreath was made by
our students and

ANZAC ceremony at the
Upper Yarra RSL.
Together they
commemorated the
loyalty and sacrifice of
our brave service men
and women. Will and
Zoe, our school
captains, took a
leadership role as the
Master of Ceremonies
for the Anzac Schools
service, introducing
the guests and schools.
Students then laid a
beautiful wreath in
memory of our fallen
service men and women.
The issue of allowing
dogs in the school
grounds was once
again discussed at our
last school council
meeting. After much
consideration, a school
policy and guidelines
have been developed
to clarify the rules
regarding having dogs
in the school and to
highlight the
importance of child
safety. The policy will
be discussed at our
next school council
Students should not be
controlling dogs in the
school grounds at any
time. If dog owners
have any doubts about
their dog's capacity to
behave safely in the
school grounds, they
are strongly
encouraged to leave
their dog
at home in
the
interests
of safety
for all.
Dogs at School
Week?
Education Week highlights the
importance of education and helps
to highlight some of the great
things happening in Victorian
schools. It provides an excellent
opportunity to advocate for public
education and the important role
that schools play in communities.
Through inviting families and
community members into
classrooms for first-hand
experiences, we highlight the
important partnership between
teachers, parents and students.
Key Messages

To be lifelong learners, students
must have ingenuity, creativity,
critical thinking skills, and
citizenship skills.
Students need a broad range of
learning experiences that go
beyond the basic subjects of
math, language arts, science
and integrated studies. Schools,
while preparing students for a
diversity of possible futures,
must also ensure students
experience the joy of learning
while at school.

Welcome back for another term,
and hopefully a good few months
ahead. I hope youve all had a
restful and fun break, I know I did.
So many kids Ive spoken to have
been camping over the break,
which is such a great experience
for kids. Getting back to the
simple things in life, and
experiencing the outdoors are such
wholesome and worthwhile
pursuits. I love to camp, and
always feel like 2 nights away is as
replenishing as a week away! So

Grade 5/6:We have been learning

been working on improving our
quick Maths through Blitzmaster.
We have continued to develop our
reading and have focused on
different strategies. We have
started our Science topic Change
Detectives.
Principal: I am pleased with the
Tone in the classroom. Children
are working hard and focussed on
learning. Lets try and make our
schoolyard a bit tidier. There is too
much rubbish being dropped
outside. Find a bin and keep our
environment tidy.

up our book boxes. We chose lots
of books from the library to put in
our classroom library. We
commenced Literacy groups and
revised the letters S & O. In Maths
we learnt to tally and make a graph
from the data. We started Freaky
Friday Maths and enjoyed rotating
between the activities. In Science,
we wrote the definition of a toy
and searched for things that move.
Grade 1/2: In 1/2 last week we
have continued to work on our
Caf strategies in reading groups.
In Writing we wrote invitations to
our Grandparents/Special Friends.
We have continued to work on
Place Value in our Maths groups
and our skip counting patterns in

a bit tricky!

LETS GO FAMILY DAY CARE
A locally run scheme, providing warm,
nurturing care to small groups of children
At Lets Go Family Day Care, we put the "Family"
into Family Day Care.
Children are cared for in a warm, safe, homely
environment that consists of only a small group of children.
We have vacancies for care in Warburton, Yarra Junction, Wesburn and
Millgrove.
Our educators are qualified and trained to provide the best possible care for your
child. Each educator is monitored and supported by our coordination unit, to
enable them to continually grow professionally within themselves.
Reduced fees are available as we are CCB and CCR approved through the
Department of Education.
If you have any enquiries in relation to finding care for your child, or if you
would like to find out how to become an educator, please call Olivia Moller on 59

PIANO LESSONS ARE HERE
BEGINNER PIANO LESSONS FOR YOUNG & OLD
Piano is hard work! Piano takes years to get anywhere! You need to practice scales and exercises for a long time before you get to have any
fun and play great songs...
WRONG!!!
Piano can be fun straight away. You can learn to play two-handed tunes in your first lesson! Piano instruction has come a long way in the last
few decades. New techniques and approaches allow for the student to enjoy the learning process and experience making music straight away.
Piano is a journey, not a destination, so the experience should be enjoyable.
I specialise in absolute beginners for children and adults. Cost is $20 upfront for materials, and $20 per 25 minute lesson. Students will take
home songs and exercises to practice. Private lessons are being offered for the kids at Launching Place Primary School each Thursday morning
starting on the 13th of March. Private lessons are also available for children and adults outside these hours by appointment.
If you or your child have always wanted to learn piano, I would love to help you make this come true.
