March
Year 2 to Fox Howl on their
residential visit.
I know how excited the children are
about their visit to Delamere next
week. We are looking forward to
seeing them enjoy the activities that
have been planned. I am sure they
will have a truly memorable time.

Thursday 17th March

Year 5 were amazing last week on their residential visit to the
Conway Centre on Anglesey - to see them overcome the challenges
that were set was wonderful.

Thoughts from the week

Thank you for all the work that you
put into World Book Day last week.
Although I missed the day as I was
with Year 5 in Wales, I was kept upto-date by seeing some great
pictures. The children really enjoyed
the day which was spent exploring
some of the childrens and teachers

favourite books and characters. It is

pleasing to see that in a digital age,
books still very much have their
place in school and in our leisure
time. I know how many children
enjoy reading in school and I am
sure you see that at home. Lets
keep encouraging that wonderful
skill together.
It was great to see the sta entering
into the fun of the day too. I am sure
that you have seen this image on our
Twitter feed, but it is worth sharing
again!
We have some lovely pictures of the
children in their costumes, which we
will put on display for you to see very
soon.

Curriculum/Assessment
Information Evening - 7.00pm
Can I remind you of this important
and hopefully useful evening. We
will explain the main changes to the
new national curriculum and how
the curriculum is being assessed.
Following a general introduction,
you are invited to each of the 7
classes to hear more about the
specifics of the assessments. This
will be an opportunity to learn more
about the new assessments (tests)
at the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2)
and Key Stage 2 (Year 6).
Children are welcome to attend this
evening, although we appreciate
that it is starting to get late for some
children.

Tuesday/Wednesday 22nd/
23rd March
Parents Evenings
Bookings can now be made through
the website.

More news...
Y5 Conway
It was a privilege to support the Year 5 sta during the
Conway Residential last week. I was so proud of all the
children and how they rose to the challenges that were set.
I joined the children on Wednesday evening to hear all
about their exciting afternoon building rafts and paddling
in the Menai Strait. A few
real stars shone out of the
group as they explained
how they worked as a
team and helped their
friends. The children went
to sleep so well on the first
night - often not the
easiest night as the
children are so excited
about staying in a room
with their friends. You will
be amused to hear, I am
sure, that all the rooms
were kept in an immaculate
state - probably due to the
very rigorous
room
inspections that
took place during
the visit! Maybe
remind your
children of this
when their rooms
look a mess!
On the second
day, we made
sure that the
children had
several layers of clothes and we took on the challenge of
climbing up a gorge near Conwy. Some parts of the gorge
walk were very challenging, but the children were very well
supported by school and Conway Centre sta. I was so
impressed with the way they dug deep in their inner
strength and overcame some real fears. The look on their
faces when they had reached their goal were unforgettable.
By the end of the day, every child had wet clothes and
wellies that were half full of river water, but all had really
proud faces. They were very happy to get changed and
warmed up before the journey back the the Conway Centre.
They even had energy left for their evening disco.
The final day took the children into the
indoor climbing wall where they were
taught skills of bouldering, climbing and
abseiling.
I hope the photos and tweets on Twitter
feed last week helped you keep updated
with how they got on. You should feel very proud of your
children - I certainly am.
Thank you again to the sta who take time away from their
own families to support this visit and other similar visits they would not be possible without the enthusiasm and
dedication that they show for residential visits.
Sport Relief
On Friday 18th March (the first day of Sports Relief), we will
be asking the children to be running all day long - we will
take it in turns, a class at a time, to run our golden mile. We

will see how many laps/miles we clock up during the day. The
children will be asking for sponsorship for each lap of our
Golden Mile course they run in about 40 minutes. At the end of
the day, we will be able to calculate
the number of miles each class has
run and how many the school has run.
We ask that you help the children to
collect sponsors from family and
friends, please. It should be a great
day!
On the day, we ask that all children
come to school in sports gear/trainers.
We have sent home sponsor forms for
you to use to collect names. We are
using the ocial sponsor form which
has full details of the process of
ensuring that the charity gets
the Gift Aid from tax payers. The
sheet contains all the necessary
Terms and Conditions and a link
to a website for more
information.
We would be very happy to
collect the sponsor money on
your behalf and take this to the
bank in one amount. Please
send money in before the the
deadline of Wednesday 24th
March which is when we will
take the money to the bank.
Please make cheques payable
to Sport Relief 2016 (schools).
Please make sure that you send in the completed sponsor
forms so that they can also be processed. If you miss this
deadline or you still have sponsor money to collect, you will
need to send the money to the charity yourself. The form gives
details of how you can do this in person or by post.
Stang Update
Thank you for the positive conversations I have had with
parents over the past weeks about my forthcoming Shared
Parental Leave when I will be using the government's new
legislation that allows mothers and fathers to share the
traditional maternity leave.
I am now in a position to give more details of how my Shared
Parental Leave will be managed in school. During my absence,
Miss Kathryn Jardine will be Acting Headteacher. Mrs Emma
Dimbylow and Mrs Clare Forsyth will jointly be acting Assistant
Headteachers to form the Senior Leadership of the school.
Miss Sarah Mottram, a teacher with over 24 years of
experience, will teach Year 2 for the rest of the school year.
Mrs Vanessa Greenbury will also teach in the class to ensure
that all the childrens needs are fully met. Miss Mottram will be
spending time in school during the next few weeks, including
supporting the residential visit to Fox Howl, so that she can
get to know the children and be fully up to speed on their
educational needs when she starts her role after the Easter
Holidays.
