Say NO to Charter Schools In Washington State Washington State voters have already voted down charters THREE times. Over the last 20 years and in 41 states, the charter promise for better outcomes for children than traditional schools has failed. Charter schools do the same (46%) or worse (37%) than traditional schools. It would allow charter schools to contract out management to FOR-PROFIT corporations. It would allow charter takeover of existing neighborhood schools. Charter schools are more segregated than traditional schools and a 2010 UCLA report called them a civil rights failure. Charter schools serve fewer Special Education and ELL students.
