1. Introduction
Gives a brief information about the function of the codebook. Explains the theme for the codebook. Try to answer these questions; What is this codebook for? What are the main ideas in the codebook? Is there enough information about theme of the codebook?

3.a Rules for Coding Must be unique


Must begin with a letter (Not a number) Cannot include full stops, space or symbols

Construct categories Expert opinion Pilot for categories Code the categories

2. Unit of Analysis
A single word: word Combination of words: A single word A complete paragraph A page A section A chapter The book itself

4. Rules for Analysis


If one code appear more than one time in a unit of analysis, its coded only ONE time, If a unit of analysis contains more than one (different) codes, each code should be taken into attention
