MAYOR SPANO ANNOUNCES PASSING OF YONKERS FIREFIGHTER ANTONIO RODRIQUES Firefighter Rodriques Donates Organs After Suffering a Hemorrhagic

Stroke YONKERS, NY August 1, 2012 With heavy hearts, Mayor Mike Spano along with the Yonkers Fire Department today announce the passing of Yonkers Firefighter Antonio Rodriques, who died late Tuesday, July 31, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla due to complications after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke earlier this summer. Rodriques was a 12-year veteran of the Yonkers Fire Department, assigned to Ladder 74 on Radford Street in Yonkers. The Yonkers resident was the recipient of six departmental commendations during his career. The 49-year old donated his organs to several recipients through the New York Organ Donation Network. Rodriques is survived by his parents, Celeste and Celestino Rodriques; his brother, Lester C. Rodriques; his sister-in-law, Anna Maria Rodriques; his niece, Nicole Rodriques; his nephews, Matthew and Alex Rodriques; and his girlfriend, Amy Krawczyk. The City of Yonkers lost one of its bravest men with the untimely passing of Yonkers Firefighter Antonio Rodriques, said Mayor Spano. Antonio served with the Yonkers Fire Department, giving of himself to the residents of our City with unyielding passion, commitment and strength. We will forever remember Firefighter Rodriques, along with our other fallen uniformed officers, and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family during this very difficult time. A wake will be held at Flynn Memorial Home, 1652 Central Ave., Yonkers, on Friday, Aug. 3, from 2 to 9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Immaculate Conception/St. Marys Church at 103 S. Broadway on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. followed by internment at St. Marys Cemetery at 114 Sprain Road in Yonkers.
