FROM THE PASTOR
AS YOU DO IT TO THE LEAST OF THESE In the late 1700s, the manager of Baltimores largest hotel refused lodging to a man dressed like a farmer because he thought this fellows appearance would discredit his inn. So the man left. Later that evening, the innkeeper discovered that he had turned away none other than Thomas Jefferson! Immediately, he sent a note to the famed patriot, asking him to come back and be his guest. Jefferson replied by instructing his messenger as follows: Tell him I have already engaged a room. I value his good intentions highly, but if he has no place for a dirty American farmer, he has none for the Vice President of the United States. Likewise, the Lord is often pushed aside in our lives because we disregard needy believers of humble circumstances. We forget that Christ may be in the small child who needs attention. He might be in the grieving grandmother, the lonely shut-in, or the struggling neighbor. They may seem to have little to offer, but if we show kindness to the least of these, it is as if we are doing it to Christ. (Copied) *Roger*

Going back-to-school is an exciting and challenging time for kids. They can make new friends, adjust to new teachers, and get back to a more structured lifestyle. It can also be a time of testing for their faith. Next Sunday we will begin an exciting new series on wearing the full Armor of God. Are you Army Strong?

LADIES MINISTRY NEWS The Ladies Ministry is going to collect items for the Ira B. Vest Widows Ministry Center in Sevierville. We do not need any more medicine bottles. Instead, the items they need are: canned meat, cookies, chips, cheese crackers, candy, canned fruits and vegetables, and body lotion. If you would like to help with any of these items, bring them and leave on the Ladies Ministry table. We will be taking them to the Widows Center in October. Please continue saving the soup labels so they can purchase more vans. Thank You!

One newly elected member was obviously timid about her responsibilities. The pastor told her, Youll find it helpful, before you make the call, to spend a few moments talking to God about it. A week later, the timid one thanked the pastor for his advice and said, I tried it when I went out on my call and it works. I prayed that the people wouldnt be home, and they werent!

Pastor Jonathons Word of the Week

Bible facts

~ The Bible was written over a 1600 year period by approximately 40 men. The time of the writing was from 1500 BC to AD 100. ~ There are no contradictions in the Bible. Various people claim to find contradictions but they have to take verses out of context to do so. When looking at the Bible as a whole and understanding its teachings there are no contradictions. This is amazing when one considers that the Bible was written over such a long period of time. ~There are more than 168,000 Bibles either sold or given away per day in the United States according to the Gideons Wycliffe International and the International Bible Societies.
