Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary

OUT OF MY MIND
Author and preacher Max Lucado once said Faith sometimes begins by stuffing your ears with cotton. I couldnt agree more! Sometimes, the best way to carry out what you know God has called you to do is simply play deaf and ignore those around you who tell you You cant do that! or Weve never done it that way before! In fact, cant is not a part of faiths vocabulary. It just simply does not know the word. Now, you may say to me But there are things you simply cannot do faith or no faith. And I say, Faith is not about you or me. Its all about God. You are right, there are things we cannot do apart from God. Faith always focuses on what God can do through/with/ in spite of us, not on what

by Dr. Dyton L. Owen

we can or cannot do without God. Jesus said, with God all things are possible. Notice the wording with God Sometimes, the best way for us to move ahead and do what we know God has called us to do is to remember that we do it with God, not apart from God, and to stuff our ears with cotton.

Thanksgiving Plans
An elderly man in Phoenix calls his son in New York and says, "I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; fortyfive years of misery is enough." "Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screams. "We can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the old man says. "We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her," and he hangs up. Upon hearing the news, the sister calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at the old man, "You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hangs up. The old man hangs up his phone, too, and turns to his wife. "Okay," he says, "they're coming for Thanksgiving. Now what do we tell them for Christmas?"

What a great time were having at the Pumpkin Patch! Thanks to all those who have
been involved in this event! Above Left: Shari Wendt looks on as school children roll the pumpkins. Above Right: Anita DeLaTorre reads a harvest story . Below: Our awesome group of volunteers who showed up to help unload and place our pumpkins. God is Good!

5:30pm

How to Stay Safe in the World Today

1. Avoid riding in automobiles because they are responsible for 20% of all fatal accidents. 2. Do not stay home because 17% of all accidents occur in the home. 3. Avoid walking on streets or sidewalks because 14% of all accidents occur to pedestrians. 4. Avoid traveling by air, rail, or water because 16% of all accidents involve these forms of transportation. 5. Of the remaining 33%, 32% of all deaths occur in Hospitals. So, above all else, avoid hospitals. BUT, you will be pleased to learn that only 0.001% of all deaths occur in worship services in church, and these are usually related to previous physical disorders. Therefore, logic tells us that the safest place for you to be at any given point in time is at church! And, Bible study is safe too. The percentage of deaths during Bible study is even less. So, for SAFETYS sake, attend church, and read your Bible; IT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!

Dear Friends: We are writing you to express our deep appreciation for the recent donation to Hope Unlimited. We are so grateful for your generosity and your continued support to our organization. Your willingness to give enables us to continue to help those in need in our community. Thanks again for your kindness. Wish Sincere Thanks, Staff of Hope Unlimited, Inc.

THE Whole BIBLE STORY

by William H. Marty

GrownA Bible Story Book for Grown-ups

The Bible tells a story. It's a beautiful account of God's love for people throughout history. The events told in the Bible are exciting, tender, and at times awe-inspiring, but often the story can get lost among the laws, genealogies, prophecies, poetry, and instructions. Sometimes we need to get back to what happens in the Bible, focusing on the plot and the characters. Here, Dr. William Marty retells the entire story in the Bible in one easy-to-read, chronological account. All the stories you remember from childhood--Noah, David, Esther, Daniel, and, of course, Jesus--are part of one grand narrative. And it's the page-turning story of God's pursuit of you--one you'll want to read again and again.

Remember, $1 per person each Sunday!
