ADDITIONAL UPCOMING COURSES + WORKSHOPS @ DUNDARAVE IN SPRING 2013

Basic Etching with Daemon Baldwin in January and February This course will give participants an opportunity to further develop their etching skills with instruction, demonstrations, and studio time. We will focus on tonal work using aquatint and students will be introduced to colour printing using a variety of inking techniques. Suitable for students with a basic background or for those who wish to refresh their skills. Intermediate Etching with Katie Dey March and April 6:30 - 10 PM Learn to etch photo based imagery into copper using home brewed methods. No longer will you feel the need for a darkroom, fancy exposure unit, or any other specificuse and expensive equipment. It all starts with your home computer and basic Photoshop usage, and quickly moves to the etching bath. Intermediate / Advanced class. Note: Students must have basic computer skills. The forthcoming courses are not yet confirmed. In November, a new brochure will be issued with all confirmed courses and dates.

Withdrawals: With notice of more than two weeks, DPW will refund fees minus and administrative fee of $30. With less than two weeks notice, DPW will refund fees minus an administrative fee of $50. Cancellations: Course may occasionally be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen reasons. Should DPW cancel a course, a full refund or credit for another course will be issued. Both the novice and advanced printmaker will find DPW printmaking classes that accommodate and challenge their skill level. Courses are held throughout the year on Tuesday evenings, 7 to 10 pm. (unless otherwise noted) Class sizes are kept to a minimum in order to facilitate individual instruction.

Intended to allow students taking courses at Dundarave to access the studio for open use outside of class times with a technician present. Contact us for specific dates.

This course will focus on colour printing with multiple copper plates. Students will learn to build richer colours and forms by using aquatint and lines in layers. Individual instruction and discussions throughout the class. This course is suitable for students with a basic background in etching and aquatint. Course Fee: $250.00 + tax Additional $25 in class fee for additional course materials 7 Participants Maximum. Hannamari Jalovaara has studied Fine Arts in both Europe and Canada, and has worked in many studios including Malaspina Printmakers Society in Vancouver, Il Bisonte in Tuscany, Italy, as well as a completely non-toxic print studio Iikka in Espoo, Finland. In addition to teaching courses in intaglio, she has comprehensive experience in mentoring young artist printmakers. Hannamaris work has been exhibited internationally, and is included in both public and private collections. www.moongecko. com

In this course participants will explore both watercolour and oil-based monotype techniques. Students will receive individual attention regarding drawing, painting, and composition and learn to print using a manual press. Along with technique students are introduced to different papers, materials, and the experience of working in a studio atmosphere. The course will open new possibilities for expression while exploring colour, form and line. There will be discussion and class critiques throughout. Suitable for any level of ability and as an introduction to the Print Studio and Practice. Course Fee: $250.00 + tax

9 Participants Maximum. Heather Aston is a full time artist/printmaker and works out of her home studio and the Dundarave Print Workshop in Vancouver, BC. Raised in West Vancouver she graduated in 1971 from the Vancouver School of Art (Emily Carr University) with Honours in Printmaking. She has taught printmaking for 20 years in various schools, institutes and local studios. Her work is exhibited regularly in galleries in Vancouver and Toronto.
