Failure to meet the basic needs of a dependent person, typically children, people with disabilities or older adults. Words or actions that cause mental harm by attacking a persons self-esteem. (i.e. insulting, humiliating, calling a person stupid) ! The misuse of a persons money or property, usually for the abusers gain. (i.e. stealing, forging signatures, selling possessions without permission) Force or violence that causes pain, injury and sometimes death. (i.e. hitting, pushing, biting, kicking, throwing objects, etc.)! Unwanted sexual activity, including sexual harassment. (i.e. Rape, attempted rape, unwanted touching, exposure, etc.) Prevented from having any power or control over ones life or health care. Any conduct, comment, gesture, threat or suggestion that is sexual in nature.
