PUBLIC NOTICE KIND ATTENTION: DEALERS/SUB-DEALERS OF LEAD ACID BATTERIES OPERATIONAL IN U.T., CHANDIGARH. Ministry of Environment & forest, New Delhi vide Notification S.O. 1002(E) dated 4th May, 2010, has recently notified Batteries (Management and Handling) Amendments Rules, 2010. As per the amended Rules, it has been made mandatory for all the dealers of Lead Acid Batteries to get themselves registered with CPCC by applying in FORM IV and further file half yearly return of sale/purchase of new/old lead acid batteries in FORM V, latest by 31st March and 30th November every year. All the dealers/sub-dealers are given another chance to apply for getting themselves registered with CPCC within 30 days from the date of issuance of this Public Notice as per format given below and further file their half yearly returns. * IF APPLICABLE (AS PER CURRENT STATE SALE TAX RULES, MANDATORY TIN/VAT NUMBER IS REQUIRED ONLY IF THE ANNUAL TURNOVER OF THE DEALER IS MORE THAN THE PRESCRIBED VALUE)

Documents to be attached: 1. Self Attested copy of dealer certificate (inclusive of validity). 2.Self Attested copy of TIN/VAT no. issued by Sales Tax Deptt. Failure to adhere to the provisions of Batteries (Management & handling) Amendments Rules, 2010 shall lead to prosecution of the said firm/proprietor as per provisions of sec. 15 of Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years with fine which may extend to one lakh rupees, or with both and in case the failure or contravention continues, with additional fine which may extend to five thousand rupees for every day during which such failure or contravention continues after the conviction for the first such failure or contravention.
