    Definitions
    Rule of Thirds When an editor or designer of a magazine splits the cover into 9 sections to decide where key elements should be placed.

    Strapline/Coverline Lines of text that arent as big as the masthead or the main Coverline.

    Masthead The main title of a piece of media (newspaper/magazine/website)

    MCU- (Medium Close Up) A shot type that uses the chest and above of a person.

    CU (Close Up) A shot type that focuses on shoulders and above.

    MS (Medium shot) A photo of somebody from the waist up.

    LS (Long Shot) A shot that includes the whole of the models body.

    Denotation The literal meaning. Connotation A hidden/suggested meaning. Copy The written word/ the writing. Mise-en-scene The props/clothing that is in the photograph.
