Forget and have some cake!

There are two types of cake portion sizes, dessert portions and event portions. Dessert portions are used for a smaller cake, or a cake that is the only dessert at the event (often a dinner party, small birthday party etc.) Event portions are used for wedding cakes or similar, where there are other desserts available. I have broken my servings into the two types. The smaller cakes have dessert portions and event portions, the larger cakes have larger event portions (dessert portions) and regular event portions. The accompanying images can also serve as a cutting guide! The following is an approximation of the number of people each different cake size will serve. These are the portion sizes that are used to estimate cake cost. Please note the actual number of servings may vary depending on how generous (or stingy!) the cake- cutter is! Round Cakes 6 Round A 6 inch round cake will serve 4 generous portions, or 8 sensible portions. 10 Round A 10 inch round cake will serve 12-25 dessert portions or, 39 event portions 14 Round 8 Round A 8 inch round cake will serve 8-14 dessert portions, or 24 event portions
