Auto Breaking and Entering
September 2012
Activity Summary:
There were sixty-five (65) Auto B&Es reported in September 2012. There were nineteen (19) Auto B&Es
reported during the same time frame in 2011. This is a 242% increase from 2011 to 2012.
The zone with the highest number of incidents was East 2 with twenty-seven (27), or 42%.
The reporting area with the highest number of incidents was B3 with fourteen (14), or 22%.
Forty-four (44), or 68%, took place at residential locations.
Forty-three (43), or 66%, of the incidents involved unforced entry.
Sixteen (16), or 25%, of the incidents were discovered on a Wednesday.
Twenty-two (22), or 34%, were discovered between the hours of 0400 to 0759.
Fifty-nine (59) incidents are open for further investigation and nine (9) have been closed with leads
exhausted.
Historically, HPD has an average of 25 Auto B&Es during the month of September with a current threshold of 8 to 42.
This September, we exceeded the threshold with 65 reported Auto B&Es.
Forecast for October:
The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of October is 34 plus or minus 14. By the end of October, there is
a 68% chance HPD will have received between 20 and 48 reported Auto B&Es.
