Auto Breaking and Entering
May 2013
Activity Summary:
There were thirty (30) Auto B&Es reported in May 2013. There were thirty-four (34) Auto B&Es reported
during the same time frame in 2012. This is a 12% decrease from 2012 to 2013.
The majority of incidents, nineteen (19) or 63%, took place at residential locations.
Fourteen (14), or 47%, of the incidents involved forced entry.
Nineteen (19), or 63% of the incidents were discovered on a Thursday.
Eleven (11), or 37%, were discovered between the hours of 0400 to 0759.
Twenty-two (22) incidents are currently open for further investigation, seven (7) have been closed cleared
by arrest and one (1) has been closed cleared by other means.
Historically, HPD has an average of 35 Auto B&Es during the month of May with a current threshold of 13 to 57.
This May, we were within the threshold with 30 reported Auto B&Es.
Forecast for June:
The average number of Auto B&Es for the month of June is 32 plus or minus 11. By the end of June, there is a 68%
chance HPD will have received between 21 and 43 reported Auto B&Es.
