The Mercury Range.

Heart-thumping.
No-ones closer to the music.
From day one, more recording studios in Europe and the USA have chosen Tannoy monitors. When it really matters, artists and recording professionals trust Tannoy to deliver a sound that gets as close to the performance as possible. Its this dedication to sound integrity that Tannoy designs and engineers into every speaker carrying their name.

Ground-breaking.
Many loudspeaker manufacturers use inexpensive plastic mouldings to benefit the manufacturing process, but Tannoy has abandoned this approach with the Mercury range of loudspeakers. Weve opted to maximise performance by using solid wood material for the cabinet construction, including a substantial MDF front baffle. Nor does Mercury use small, inexpensive bass and treble units. Weve gone for something more substantial. So the bass is rich and powerful. The sound is dynamic, clear and accurate. Acoustics are as natural as the original recording. One listen and youll know precisely what were talking about.

Critic-pleasing.
Naturally, at Tannoy, we think our Mercury speakers are brilliant but what does the hi-fi press say? m1 Superb bass from boxes so small; plenty of punch and no shortage of clarity. m2 These speakers out-perform everything in their class and then go on to stomp all over the next league up. m2.5 Revised Mercuries even hotter... improve on the original m2s with better punch and greater treble clarity; excellent value for money. m3 Wonderfully cohesive and musical sound... these floorstanders set new standards of detail and control at the price. mC Excellent performance... perhaps the best affordable centre speaker.

Standard-setting.
You need to examine the m2.5 as closely as our engineers did, in order to appreciate the attention-to-detail this model has received. Many of the enhancements are hidden right inside the cabinet. Our team of acoustics experts, working with cost constraints removed, re-assessed each component of the original m2 and where possible, upgraded it to improve the acoustic performance. Of course, the most rewarding way to experience these improvements is to sit back, listen and enjoy.
Additional mass on underside of top panel to dampen resonance LF driver overlaps HF to bring acoustic centres closer together Lighter-weight two layer voice coil resulting in improved midband performance Additional magnet on back of main magnet to improve sensitivity and damping Longer port tube tuning system lower than original m2 Magnet Lossy-coupled to brace with mastic material providing exceptional rigidity Brace provides rigidity and controls cabinet resonance Binding post nuts fitted with brass inserts, improving signal path integrity Instead of a resistor, a more expensive auto-transformer used in crossover improves control and damping of HF by amplifier

Wide-ranging.
The Tannoy Mercury range offers a choice of loudspeakers for hi-fi or home cinema applications of truly outstanding performance and value.

m3

A perfectly proportioned, slim, tall floor standing loudspeaker which is so easy to drive, even the smallest of hi-fi amplifiers will deliver a big sound. Deep, tuneful bass and crisp treble detail with high power handling capability are the hallmarks of the m3. An ideal speaker for larger rooms.

m2.5

m1 w
Countless international hi-fi press reviews have sung the praises of this now classic budget hi-fi speaker. Earlier this year, the m1 achieved the accolade of the EISA 1998/99 European Loudspeaker of the Year. At its price, a truly remarkable hi-fi speaker which is also perfect as a surround speaker in more powerful home cinema systems.

m2 w
Tremendous dynamics and power handling are assured due to the 165mm bass drivers substantial magnet assembly. The m2 is equally at home as part of either a budget or a high end hi-fi. The stable impedance characteristic also makes this model the ideal solution for upgrading a mini or midi audio system.

m2.5 w
The Mercury m2.5 is essentially a very special, upgraded m2. Cabinet construction, drive unit build and positioning, terminal panel materials and crossover components have all been carefully scrutinised. Where beneficial, changes have been made in order to make the best even better.

Block-busting home cinema.

mR
Pre-fitted to the rear panel of the mR are four multi-hangers allowing the speakers to be easily flush-mounted to a wall. This thoughtful design allows them to be inverted (see picture) when positioned high on a wall, providing ideal acoustic coupling with the room environment. Their neat, compact design makes them the perfect solution for rear effects/surround applications. mR

mC
The acoustic characteristic of the mC centre channel speaker is perfectly matched to the rest of the Mercury models ensuring precise tonal balance and clarity. In addition to full magnetic shielding, heavy gauge steel plate within the cabinet provides extra stability when placed on the curved top surface of many modern televisions.

mM
The new mM (Mercury Main) is a floor standing design utilising two 130mm bass drivers ideal for the additional bass dynamic and power handling requirements of good quality home cinema. If you like your music at moderate to high volumes or consider yourself a bit of a party animal you wont be disappointed.
(Please note: the mM is also known as m4 in some markets.)

mSUB10
With its powerful 250mm low frequency driver the new mSUB10 150 watt active subwoofer offers home cinema enthusiasts high performance extended bass. The compact unit provides the flexibility of line level or speaker inputs. Input level control and a phase invert switch ensure that you can easily fine tune the bass frequencies to the rest of the system.
