Youngs Class Shared Reading

This week, we read books about Auburn to prepare for Tailgate Day. We read The ABCs of Auburn, Hello, Aubie, War Eagle!, Aubies Journey Through the Yellow Hammer State, Aubie Loves Sports, All About Aubie and Aubie, Aubie What Do You See?. We practiced Auburn cheers and songs, as well as answering many math questions such as: Do you like Auburn, Alabama or both? Do you like Aubie? and Have you ever rolled Toomers Corner?

Tailgate Day was a huge success! Thank you to our parents who volunteered their time, as well as those who sent in special treats for us to enjoy! Look for pictures soon!!!

Yellow Pod Notes Theme

We began discussing the different zones of the ocean this week. We learned that there are three light zones and spent a day learning about each one. We discussed the plants and animals that could be found in each zone. We will continue this discussion next week.
On Wednesday, we had Fall Rotations in the Yellow Pod. The children got to visit each teachers classroom in the Yellow Pod and do Fall activities. In Ms. Macs room they estimated, predicted, graphed, and counted with pumpkin activities. They also painted small pumpkins with Ms. Caldwell, had pumpkin relays with Mrs. Lockhart, did Shared Reading with Mrs. Kelly and made and ate a spider cupcake with Mrs. Mims. Each child played pumpkin math games in our classroom!

General Information
Our Scholastic Book Fair will start Monday, November th 5 and run through Friday, November 9th. It will be held in the Conference Room. On Wednesday, November 7th, our parents are invited to come have lunch with their child and browse the Book Fair afterwards. If you plan on coming and having lunch, please send a note to let me know. Lunches have to be ordered by 8:15. The cost for lunches is $3.50. Monday, November 19 will be a make-up day for school pictures. Any child that was absent on Picture Day (Sept. 21) will be able to have his/her picture made on November 19.
